Just arrived back from Perth and although I was disappointed that we lost I was more disappointed in the crowd in my block. I wasn't in Block 315 like I was told by my partner who had the tickets but block 312. Our boys fought out the game but what I was disgusted in was bar a few people in the block no one barracks. What's wrong with chanting every now and then geez. I was horrified when people started leaving when we were only ten points behind and boy did I let them know how I felt. Not only that but some dropkick and his wife who were sitting behind me told me off for holding up the sign for Ash that said thanks a million at the end of the game. I left the match with a hollow feeling and have to say much as you guys won't like this but the dockers supporters in this block showed more passion than the majority of Eagle supporters I was sitting near. I met the guy who runs the squad over there and have been invited to sit with them if I ever venture off to another game over there. i realise by what I read on this forum that the users here are very passionate and vocal, maybe you should teach that to the people who would be better off giving their seats away to people who know what barracking and getting behind the boys especially when the game was there to be won in the last quarter really means. I'm off to Adelaide this week to take the banner over for the team and I'm sure the small group that will be sitting with me will be just that vocal as that's what helps get the boys over the line. What's more a champion like Milli deserved to have every eagle stay to watch his tribute on the big screen no matter what not leave early to beat traffic or whatever else reason they chose to leave. As for the Aftermatch fo Ash it wasn't too bad except for the flashing ball which was a bit annoying. Already for you young guys but not for me although they could have played more modern music as even Juddy complained about the quality of music being play. I love today's music as I'm a modern person who believes in living life to the full apart from that the weather was great and your city is still one of the best places to visit. I haven't given up on the boys yet so I hope you guys still think we have a chance as well. As long as we are in the finals anything can happen. We can beat any side anywhere if we really want to. I still stick by my feelings On Brent Staker he is a star of the future and my new favorite player since Troy will be leaving. Go Eagles hope you send the crows packing.

yeah some ppl are just a**holes, but hey theyre at everyclub... not just eagles... have fun in adelaide.. support us welll coz were gunna need it!

(p.s: the dockers supporters r gunna have a ball with this thread

As a docker supporter i know that not all your fans are like that but there is an awful lot of them that are. There was an eagle lady in the dockers block 141 and she kept complaining that we were waving our banners and flags and putting them off goal and that she didn't want to be seated in the dockers cheersquad. After a while the cheersquad leader pointed out to her that exactly the same thing was happening up your end from your cheersquad.

I realise seren you are a passionate eagle supporter and i honestly beleive that if your fans at subi could make half as much noise as your interstate fans there would be a hell of a lot better atmosphere.

I guess its just a result of the expectations that come with success and some people not being able to handle losing.

ATM everybody seems to be jumping on the freo bandwagon and thats fine. It will only beome a problem if they jump off if freo have another have a ruff patch or they leave early if we are gonna lose a home game.

I cant belieive i'm sayin this but good luck against the crows.

Hi seren, hope you had a good time over there.

You know my thoughts on the subi crowd, but i have to say that watching the game (and taking particular notice of the crowd after my argy bargy with the guys here) I was pleasantly suprised with the crowd performance in general, it was much better then we usually get.

There were boos for bad decisions, boos for naughty freo players and cheers for freo points, all the things that some think show bad sportmanship, but in the end show great passion and support for the players. I even saw someone sucking on an orange, wondering if it was VOR or Go_Eagles. Luckily I didn't see anyone leaving or I would've had a fit.

I hope we get a big crowd in adelaide and get on top, and at the risk of blespheming, i hope freo kick essendon out. If we we're to meet one of these two again, we're better placed against freo.

When you consider that the ~6,000 Dockers fans there were logically the most passionate of their number, is it really surprising to find comparisons that make them look more committed? It's the job of the away crowd to stir things up, so of course when you see the away crowd compared to the softer home supporters you'll see a dichotomy. That's how most every game would go, although perhaps moreso in a Derby where the passions are even higher than usual.

I think the only place our teams could meet in the finals would be the big one. Not likely. Not this year anyway. ;)

fair comment, but how do you explain the much, much louder noise by Dockers fans for derby #1 this year, with 12,000 of the most "passionate" eagles fans in the crowd?
Shouldn't they, by following this logic, have made twice the noise that the 6000 Freo fans made on Sat, and completely drowned out the 27 odd thousand Freo people that were there in round 5?
But they didn't.
Seren - you are obviously a passionate Eagles fan, and one that will be screaming for your team through the lean times as well as the good times.
Good on ya.:)

You need a serious attitude adjustment.

Perhaps we should replace the cheer squad with the knitting squad.

I guess i should have added that i hate essendon with a serious passion. I hate loyd with hus stoopid grass throwing bull*****, hird with his smurf head, allesio, johnston, barnard, cant stand that arseh*le, ***** sheedy can go lick some horse balls and their supprtes all suck too.

ahhhhhh.... i feel better now.

All we have to do is beat probably Adelaide, Brisbane and Port, then you just have to beat Essendon, Sydney, Collingwood.

Easy. See you in four weeks.

I agree Sedders that not every block was as bad as the one I was in but being used to people around me yelling and screaming plus chanting as much as I do I felt we let the boys down. Heck speaking to some of them after the game they don't understand it either. Living in Melbourne and going to Adelaide, Sydney ect to watch games to support the boys where we are the minority not majority and knowing how hard it is to make sure we make enough noise as we can so the boys can hear I found it strange that the crowd weren't more vocal. As in chanting things like I heard a section of the crowd do in let's go eagles lets go. Could you imagine the noise if everyone joined in. The only chant that seems to get people to join in is the eagles one. As for my counterparts over there I thought they did a good job. They had to put up with security telling them not to bang their drum or wave the floggers when Freo was going for goal but they still were chanting. When the crowd around my squad anywhere tries to drown us out I enourage us to go higher. You guys on the board are obviously as passionate as I am, why not try and start your own chants in the area's you sit when you next go to a game and see what happens. If they don't join in tell them they are ****ers because believe me I'm sure the people who sat near me hated me big time for voicing my opinion, but you know what I couldn't care less I'd do it again in a minute. I still love your city and what happened at the game hasn't put me off going to another game over there. As for Adelaide I look forward to the challenge of getting people who sit near me to chant for the guys as only a few of my squad will be going over. Hopefully we win and Collingwood loses so we play them over here and have the pleasure of kicking them out of the finals race. This week is going to be a busy one for me as I'm moving house next week so am trying to pack, go to banner making tonight toput the sleeves on our banner and cut letters out for another one should we need it, then maybe have to do it next Tuesday as well after I have test down for a minor health problem. I move Wednesday week so you can imagine how busy I am but hey as far as I'm concerned nothing will stop me doing things for our boys no matter how many other things I have to do. To all the members on this board including the freo ones keep up the good job you do of supporting the boys from your clubs as they do need and appreciate it.

i know what you mean, when i was at the gabba earlier in the year ,and i was one of only a few eagles supporters in that section of the stand where i was sitting.i got a lot of dirty looks because i was barracking loud non-stop but that just made me yell louder.:)

At times, some fellow fans can be disapointing.

But I would imagine that this is the case with every team.

Not everyone is footy mad, and just because they are members doesn't make them passionate football people.

I have a friend whos a Brisbane member (Qld based), he even went to the Grand Final last year.
He's not a passionate fan, in fact, he wouldn't be able to tell you many players beyond Aker and Voss, he's just loaded thats all.

You know how sometimes every team has matches where they don't even make their membership number as the total crowd ? - I would say that that is the percentage of fans that aren't "passionate" for the game.

Then again, some people are just ********s quite frankly - please reference Denis Leary's "arseh*le" for further information on such characters.
They are pretty much everywhere in life.
