If you called Kitchener Park "Princess Margaret Hospital Park" (which is what it is) nobody would vote for it.

Save the park.
In ten years that hospital wont be there anyway. They want to move the womens and childrens services to one site (ie Princess Margaret and King Edward). It will probably end up being at Royal Perth once the Fiona Stanley Hospital is built.

Why are people voting for Burswood? Just curious.

Speaking personally:
Good access, with a freeway, a major highway and a train line going right past it. With space to park.
Potential for development across the whole riverfront area, with a heap of space available.
Close(ish) to the city. With a pedestrian bridge across to the WACA (which I presume will probably get demolished with the new stadium constructed) it's accessible by foot from the city side.
By far the least number of whining residents.

Overall, it's the only place where you can develop more than just a stadium.

IMO, I reckon the best place to build it would be the Esplanade/Langley Park area. But for some reason it's never come up. But out of the sites suggested, Burswood is by far the best.

Haven't heard anything about it going to Burswood. Are there any plans or tenders in place?

I voted East Perth: also good public transport, close to the city, great location, would help the East end of the city develop. Last I heard they were going to be developing a rugby/soccer stadium in East Perth and upgrading Subi in the short term for the footy. If they're building another oval then I guess Perth can forget about high profile Rugby and Soccer games in the foreseeable future?

Yes but it's not just about sick kids enjoying a beautiful old park - is nothing sacred? There are plenty of other, more viable options, so why develop over such a lovely place? Not to mention all the 100 year old trees getting bulldozed. It's a shit option.

I think you are confusing Kitchener Park with Mueller Park.

Kitchener is the oval that they (used to) allow parking on for AFL games, I dont recall many trees on that park at all. Mueller Park (pretty sure thats its name?) is the one with the trees and they are not using that space.

Plus once (if) the stadium is built they will bulldose Subi and make that area parkland as well.

Yeah right ********.

Here's the plan for the WACA. All privately funded except for the light towers and new training facilities, which would only cost the gov 15 million. Perhaps AFL and Rugby should strike a deal with a company so they can build their own stadium.

No i think you're thinking of Market Square Park?

Kitchener Park / Mueller Park I think they are the same thing.

I doubt you could fit a 60,000+ Oval on Market Square, the one with the gazebo and the skate area? They barely fit that on it.

McGinty came out recently and said why would he spend money on 15,000 more seats when Perth needs a new children's hospital. Might be waiting a while before any redevelopment anywhere happens. I think the Subi council has Subi oval leased to the company that runs it now until 2020 anyway.

I think Burswood would be a better option as Perth should be try to emulate the sports precinct in Melbourne with Olympic Park, MCG etc. This is the only site with enough room to do that.

In 20yrs time Perth will be the size that Melbourne is now so would make sense.

No there is a road (Coughlan Rd) between Kitchener Park and Mueller Park, they are not the same. (Market Square is on the other side of Haydn Bunton Drive.)

If you have a look at the drawings of the Kitchener Park development example you can see Mueller Park has been retained (along with the trees).

from the report

The following table is based on a stadium capacity of 60,000 seats.

Seating...............................Capacity.................Comments

General Admission..................10,000....................Public seating not controlled by codes.

Premium Members.........................0...................Venue Membership have not been incorporated at this stage.

Code Seating........................43,100...................Seating sold by codes.

Wheelchair (0.5%) +................1,200....................Dispersed across all seating categories and locations.
Companion seating (0.5%)

Ambulant Disabled (0.25%)...........300...................Dispersed across all seating categories and locations.

Dine and View Seating...............2,000...................Function rooms shall have a view of the field with direct access
.......................................................................to seating located in front of dining facility.

Corporate Suite Seating.............1,400...................Consists of 70no. x 16-24 person suites with seating located
.......................................................................in front of the glass line of the Suite.

Open Corporate Boxes...............2,000...................200no. Open Corporate Boxes consist of a mixture of 8-12
.......................................................................person seats located within carrels in the seating bowl.

TOTAL..............................60,000
currently at subi, freo and west coast can sell 39,000 coded seats, with 3,000 tickets remaining for general admisions seats, which means both clubs can only grow their membership lists by 4,100 if the new stadium is built with this rational:mad: and yet the task force predicts the eagles membership to grow to 55,000 by 2020, yet they won't be able to go beyond 48,000, and the same for the dockers.

and i want kitchener park.

this is the kitchener park option, if it is to be built.

see, mueller park is the park on the right, and market square garden in the one on the far left, which ia paled out. the park to the left of the stadium is where the three tier stand is and the left part of the stadium is where the new eastern stand is at subiaco oval. and the right of the stadium is where kitchener park is.

mueller park will not be touched in the redevelopment. and kitchener park is a completely different park, as West Coast 06 said it is on the other side of the road.
