and Sidebottom....but he must be doing a lot on-field that the stats sheet doesn't pick-up. Sacrificial running, covering for Nick's man defensively, filling holes to stop outlets and so on....

So if Peter Daicos storms out because his son comes second, he has no appreciation of what other players sacrifice to help make Nick so good. They cover for his man. They tackle on his behalf. They dish him out handballs. They make him the #1 'hit to' player at clearance. They block his tagger to give him free space and so on.....

Nick Daicos is a great player, but his reputation is largely from media hyperbole. He's no better overall than Anderson, Rowell, Green, Butters, Callaghan, Serong and so on. They all have different skills, but this weird fascination with placing Nick above everyone else because the medddyyyyyya fawns over the Daicos name at ridiculous levels creates unrealistic expectations on what he 'deserves'.

The players MVP is a great example. He wins it, because it's voted on by a cohort who never watch a game. Rowel beats Nick in the Brownlow by 7 votes, beats him in the coaches votes, is rated higher and wins his teams B&F...despite heaps of competition from Anderson, Miller etc.... and Rowell doesn't finish top-5 in the players MVP. Because the meddddyyyyaaaa hype up Daicos to levels beyond reality.
