Hastie would be an interesting call but Taylor, that would be superb! He has more skeletons in the cupboard than in the Footscray General Cemetery.Angus Taylor or a dark horse - Andrew Hastie.

hahahahah ... that's brilliant !Hastie would be like Dutton minus the sparkling personality.
Much as I agree Tony Abbott is a waste of space, and much as I'm aligned with the politics of The Saturday Paper, FMD some of their editorials get pompous.A glorious and point perfect analogy of the man Dutton would like to see back in Parliament....
"He is lizard-faced and weary, desolately sorting Peroni bottles into a recycling bin. He has a sock tan above boat shoes and is wearing floral board shorts. The sense of failure is absolute."

The lizard-faced emperor
Fear defines Tony Abbott’s politics: fear of migrants, fear of sex, fear of gay men. He is most comfortable imagining an Australia that does not exist, one untouched by gender equality or the complexities of globalisation. If he were to come back to politics, this is the Australia he would again...www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au

Pretty much.Guys like him seem to have lost track of the concept of government directed towards forward thinking and the common good.
They’re more or less gangsters working a mob that is on the side of the law that gets to make the rules.
Dutton
takes spud back 2 his days as a walloper. addressing social issues is beyond his wit or capacity.
and
his underlings r already onto that in victoria. perhaps 1 of these days the cookers in the party will lose control and the party will be regain some menzian values - deficient as many were. He'll probably start on the African gangs soon.

and
its been alluded to here and elsewhere ..... but lurch is hoping the alice springs issue gets caught up in the broader argument around the voice - and that a % of disengaged voters naively (and falsely) link the two
its shameless, disgusting and toxic politics at its core ...... and, worryingly, it works on some
hopefully enough australians are clued on to see this for what it is
It's lovely that there is enough faux concern for the well being of Northern Territorians against the evil blakfellas, whilst wife bashers and sovereign citizens can continue to live their lives enjoying what they do.its been alluded to here and elsewhere ..... but lurch is hoping the alice springs issue gets caught up in the broader argument around the voice - and that a % of disengaged voters naively (and falsely) link the two

Howard saying what Dutton and other Liberals are really thinking behind closed doors:

John Howard has criticised Kevin Rudd's 2008 apology to the Stolen Generations
Former prime minister John Howard says he didn’t support a formal apology to the Stolen Generations, which Kevin Rudd delivered in 2008, as it was an “empty gesture” and "meaningless".www.sbs.com.au
Question for those in Alice Springs or who know people in Alice Springs- Is the current crime wave (let's say last 6 months since Labor was elected) substantially worse than it was previously? Or is it just the Liberals fearmongering to distract from the voice? I know crime has always been bad in Alice, but how bad lately is up for debate.
