I'm not sure what Dutton thinks the demographics are going to be like in Australia in 2 years time or whenever the next election is.
At the moment he's behaving like he's going to be competing in some sort of RW world championships of being a w***er.

Is he really this stupid? Does he think Rupert is going to be able to forment a civil war between now and then?

I thought they wanted to me a political party again since they got rid of Scomo's happy clapper brigade. Dutton is just acting as if all he has to do is pretend the teals never happened, that everyone will have forgotten that Scomo let the worst government in Australia's history.

The Liberals have allowed control of the party to be ceded from the inner cities to the outer suburbs. As soon as they let that happen it was over.

What are they expecting when they allow a failed Queensland copper to take charge.

And remember the abomination that was Scott Morrison only happened because of how unpalatable Dutton was.

Problem is that they didn't win the outer suburbs from that move either.

I think the libs/nats only think that millennials and gen z will somehow switch to them as we get older.

With zero hint of knowledge that their years under Howard made sure that that will never happen, hell the last decade hammered the point home and Covid made sure that my generation in Victoria will not vote for the parties that abandoned us, insulted us and deprived us during the biggest issue since world war 2.

We’re still 6 months away from the referendum and the dog whistles have already been replaced with megaphones. Dutton going so low he won’t even stop at strongly implying Indigenous people are sexually abusing babies en masse to scare the public into voting No.

I fear for Indigenous Australians over the next 6 months, the racial abuse they’re going to cop will be horrendous.

Bridget A now actively retweeing brutal put downs of Dutto:

She surely can’t last long can she?

She seems to be angling to get herself kicked out, rather than walk out.

Which is a savvy move politically.

It might even give her the profile needed to unite the teals, but I do admit that's more of a stretch/hope. Though I absolutely do think this referendum has the potential to do that. The formation of that party needs a clear justification, a clear moment in time.

Ask any LGBTIQ+ people how the debate over the SSM plebiscite went and you get the picture.

John Hewson in The Saturday Paper today. Very biting final line.

"Dutton is supposed to be positioning the party, yet many are wondering where his leadership is actually heading, and which path he’s taking. His imprecision and obfuscation has left the electorate foundering and his team in crisis. What is his view on pork-barrelling, the future of Indigenous Australians, and integrity and accountability in government? Or does he perhaps have a position on the transition to a low-carbon Australia and the need for an increased role for women in government? Not to mention housing affordability, welfare reform and the NDIS. He has a lot of questions still to answer and the kind of detail that he craves on the Voice is sorely lacking in relation to his position on most issues."

He is visibly shaking with anger and getting increasingly shrill as the presser continues - stumbling over words (I've been 'a police offer') and dead set lying about the Referendum and what it means - bringing up threats to Australia's security and the economy FFS.
Yet you see on social media a bunch of brain-deads doing the noddy dog impression whenever he or his minions make some fake statement about the perils of the voice.

Then dickheads like Peter van Onselen have a big ****ing cry about the lack of civility in the debate.

I saw 5 minutes of Sky news at about 830pm laat night. A full defence of Dutton and his claims of rampant child abuse, it was disgusting, I nearly threw up.
Seagulls.

Sky’s “prime time stars” like Credlin, Murray and Bolt pull in only 30,000 pay viewers and 130,000 regional viewers. About 0.5% of the electorate who’s views are pretty well established. I doubt any swinging centrist is watching them genuinely expecting an unbiased overview.
Which is why we need to be ever vigilant that the right wing don’t start making moves to limit voting access.

They’ve had their hands in the till for so long that they will be extremely peed off right now.

Eventually it will dawn on them that they are never going to get elected again.

But I doubt their response to that fact will be to move closer to the centre.

Sky has already made segments saying that compulsory voting is bad and America’s system is better:
