Peter Landy and Channel 9

Now that the TV rights to the AFL footy have been settled,you may expect the announcement that Peter Landy will head up the Channel 9 commentary team!

If the Consortium can pay $5 million over 5 years for the rights,the fee alledgedly being paid to Landy of $1 million per annum is chicken feed!!!

Nothing against Peter Landy but he's clearly too old to commentate football these days, his voice is simply wonky & it's embarrassing to hear him use it in full voice.

9 better do their homework.....say no to Dermie/Dunstall/Hawkins/Morphett etc....

If Landy ended up at ch 9 it would be ironic as that is where he started at the end of 1970 doing sports reports and giving comment on the 70 - 71 Ashes series.

I'll stick up for Sandy Landy here. His rowing commentary is superb. You can tell he has a real passion for it.

I gotta agree with you there magpie_joffa!! Landy is a joke as a commentator, he's old, stupid and boring. He's also one of the old time commentators with a bias against ALL non-Victorian teams.

I think Peter Landy has a lot to offer Channel 9.

He has 30 years of experience calling football and we have grown to respect him.
Not like the recently retired ex footballers who seem to come and disappear from the TV scene so quickly.

Channel 9 also hired Lou Richards a couple of years ago for its Sunday Footy Show

It must know how to boost the ratings!!!
