i'm really pissed off with the n.s.w push carrying on about bollinger. he's and average medium fast trundler no more no less. there's much more upside to sids who can be genuinely menacing. i do agree though that he needs more variety and a few sessions with someone like lillee would be in his best interests. oh, and he can handle a bat too.

I've just got back from the pub...geez they despise Siddle up here.

Had a serious conversation witha bloke, not a fool, who genuinely believes the Australian side should be all NSW except Ponting and Johnson.

Well actually he is a fool:thumbsu:

Don't forget he is quite young in both age and terms of games played, moreso than the others. Young players are inconsistent in general. But yes if everyone is fit, right now he is the 12th guy picked.

TBH if we continue the idiocy of playing our Test bowlers in meaningless LOI games I don't think we have a selection problem anyway, by the time the Hilf is fit someone else will be injured.
I agree its time for speclialist one day bowlers

Watson
Hughes/Warner
Ponting
Clarke
Katich
Haddin WK
Steve Smith
Johnson
Three of Bracken, Lee, Hauritz & Bollinger

Unsure about Katich (as much I love him) and Steve Smith. But I reckon that could challenge most teams if everyone's fit.

It took a while before they figured Hilfy wasn't suited to ODIs, lets hope the same doesn't happen with Siddle.

He was overlooked for the 6th ODI in India when he was fit and the series was live.

Will be interesting to see who the next guys are in line when they begin to rotate the bowlers. Cockley got called up in India but he's injured.

Geeves wasn't called up at all for the ODI's, but was as a backup for the Tests.

We will see.

Looks mentally fatigued, just running in and bowling and hoping for the best. Not the first and wont be the last of our young cricketers to suffer from burn out.

Is Tait available for ODI's or is he just limiting himself to 4 overs a match?

no both ODI's and Twenty20........just Twenty20 is the more topical atmo so its the one we talk about - hes got his groove back and should be considered

Selectors are idiots

I am sure they wil consider Tait when he proves he can bowl more than 4 overs and be effective, yet to do that this season with an average of 46 and economy rate of around 6.5 in the 50 over games

Yes because thats always the thinking of Aussie selectors. Tait proved himself as a quality ODI bowler already.

Avoid probably our best ODI/T20 bowler like the plague? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
How is he our best ODI/T20 bowler? The man struggles to deliver 4 consecutive deliveries.

Siddle has not looked fit since South Africa last year. In England he was bowling pies, and this has continued throughout the summer. You can tell the way he's running in and hitting the crease that there's no fire there, he's just running on empty. It wouldn't surprise me if he goes in for a scan and something comes up. Time for him to put the feet up, then get him going again in NZ. Strangely as a pace bowler he bowls better fresh, why bury him in 10 pointless ODIs?

Cutting would be a good one to blood. What's Ryan Harris' situation btw? Looked fit enough the other night...

Siddle should NOT be playing the ODIs, he simply isn't very good at it.

Tait is an excellent ODI bowler and I'd have him in the side in a flash but I think he has burnt bridges with the selectors.
