You better believe it.

Definitely one of the best. At least on par with Steyn. Stuart Broad from England is also a very good bowler who should be right up there in considerations when talking about the best.
Only on current, right this minute form.

It is a joke that people want Haddin back. You won't see Wade run down the wicket and nick one when Australia are up against it. Haddin was pathetic, disgusting to say the least and to think he got to keep the baggy green after trying to lace one over cover at 5 for stuff all. Yeah, get that mentality back in the side.

Siddle will be injured if not already, by the end of this series. He ran in hard but since he lost the gap, he also loses the power of the gap and his body will weaken.

I thought it was a remarkably courageous bowling performance from Siddle. From the moment Pattinson went down with his injury, he just assumed all leadership responsibility and kept putting in sustained efforts for the team, and my respect and appreciation for him has strengthened immeasurably as a direct consequence. There were moments there towards the end of the evening where I seriously questioned whether he had it in him to even walk back to his mark, but he'd then somehow take a wicket and suddenly he was rejuvenated.

I think Lyon also deserves a mention. I know he has a shorter run up and there's less strain when it comes to spin bowling but I thought he was great until he became noticeably fatigued, thus affecting his bowling technique and ability to land the ball in dangerous areas. To bowl upwards of ninety overs certainly wouldn't be easy, and he performed admirably I thought.

Siddle is the ONLY bloke we have who continually breaks big partnerships in games, its almost as if he lifts his game when the top batsman are on strike.

Not the greatest bowler you will ever see but should remain our 1st choice selection for his ability to lift when no one else can.

it's almost as if wade and haddin are pretty much the same person, bar age and exp.......
Keep in mind Marsh was called 'Iron Gloves' in his early days. Wade is only 24. He'll turn out to be a top keeper/ batter.

Back to the magnificent Sids.:)

Now if Siddle could stop bowling short arm poo outside off and bowl a bit fuller he would be getting more wickets :) (His effort today was great, but I still think he bowls too short too often...but then again so does the rest of our pace attack....)

He's a good honest trier who relies more on guts and determination rather than talent to get wickets. The way he kept running at the end of the day even when he was stuffed was admirable.

Yeah the ball that got Steyn was a peach. Whaddaplaya.

All part of his hidden genius.

For the record, I don't think calling him "a good honest trier" or "a solid player" etc. gives him enough credit. You wouldn't call Merv that, and Right Arm Manure is pretty much his clone.

He is up there with Merv and Gough as the most lion hearted bowlers I have seen. He does not get enough credit. You dont have an average as good as his if you are no good. He bowled his fasted spell of the test match when he had nothing more to give on a track that was giving the fast bowlers nothing. He is one of only a couple of players that I actually like(personality wise) in that side, seems like a no frills, no fuss just get on with the job kind of guy who just wants to play cricket for Australia.

Showed some heart towards the end, but that needed to happen at 11 30 not 5 30.
Was clearly our best bowler all day yesterday. The only he got Devilliers with earlier was a peach. Clearly you only turned the TV on at 5 oclock because apart from clarkes spell before lunch he was the only bloke who looked threatening all day

Yeah, bit puzzled. For all Siddle's huffing and puffing, we had 2 bowlers bowl more overs then him.

His effort to push through was admirable and 4 wickets impressive but was his output really an remarkable feat?
It's a lot easier to bowl 50 overs of spin than 33 overs of pace.

As for Hilfenhack, yes he bowled an extra over, but when you bowl crap all day you don't deserve any praise for it.

Was watching it on and off all day, Siddle was the best of our bowlers along with Clarkes couple of reviewed 'outs'. But this 'ispirational' spell came too late. Not blaming Siddle for not getting the win by any means though.

Big call imo. Steyn is a better bowler but Siddle has more heart.

No to both.

Steyn is a Star, Siddle is an honest toiler who can have the odd brilliant spell.

Siddle's development has been fantastic, and he's well and truly deserving of his place in the team, but Dale Steyn has got him covered all over.

When we lost Patto, we lost this game - he was our only genuine strike bowler. Cummins & Patto are both better options than Siddle; if they could stay fit, but he'd be very good as our 'stock' bowling option. Watto/Siddle as the support bowlers, Patto & Cummins as the strike bowlers.

And it'll be an absolute joke if we rest Siddle for Perth; this is his ****ing job - just play him!

I'm scared of Steyn in Perth as well - he's had a very mediocre series, I expect him to come out breathing fire over there.

Finally, and I know I'll get heat for this - some people are getting carried away. He tried his guts out yesterday, but he was doing his job; to say he's one of the most big hearted bowlers we've ever seen is a hell of a stretch.

McGrath and Gillespie both bowled insanely long spells, sometimes under injury cloud, to the point they'd come off the field and have their socks soaked in blood.

No mocking Siddle's effort yesterday, because it was very gutsy, but lets put some perspective into it.

Agree with all of this. Pattinson's loss was huge for us. Obviously it's impossible to draw conclusions, but having him out there would have meant Siddle wasn't our only effective fast bowler, and realistically would have improved our chances of breaking through the du Plessis/de Villiers and du Plessis/Kallis partnerships much quicker.

Pattinson/Cummins is a long way off though. Both will keep breaking down for a few years yet until they mature (as Patto alluded to in an interview he gave recently).

Regardless, it was a great performance from Siddle. Not so much the amount of overs he bowled, but the fact that he had a fairly extended spell towards the end of the day and just kept giving when he had nothing left. He'll get up for Perth.
