He has. In an amazing display of stupidity, the (old) selection panel refused to pick him for tests, but didn't pick him for an Aus A tour they sent Hilf and Siddle on and then removed him from NSW pre-season training to play ODI's and T20's in SL and then SA. He hasn't been picked by the new panel, mainly because Bollinger was injured for most of last season after ripping his hamstring off the bone. He missed all the international LO games he may have been considered for. The new selection panel hasn't really ever had to consider Doug Bollinger until now.

Not defending him, because you're right, but didn't Cricket Australia also completely stuff up his prep for the Series? Pulled him out of games that he was desperate to play to try and get match fitness, because they didn't want him risking injury?

Got injured during the champions league-indian tour stuff up, wasn't allowed to play a shield match he wanted, and then there was a few flights to brisbane, sydney and perth, a grade game or two and half a shield match in perth where he performed well before catching a flight to adl and melting down.

Both sides stuffed up. But the captain basically refusing to bowl Hilf when a game was there to be won strikes me as more serious than farcical handling of a player returning from injury when there was a clock ticking down and both sides stuffed up in desperation. there's not much doubt Bollinger's the best guy outside the test squad and with more and more injury/form questions, I'm not really sure how viable it is to over-look him if he's fit and firing. And remember, this all played out under the old selection panel.

I appreciate what 'Sids' has done over the past couple of season's. If all our best bowler's were fit could he be pushed out? He takes clutch wicket's but doesn't steam roll the opposition. Pattinson can rip through a batting order, Cummins showed he can do that in the only test he played, Jackson Bird can do it, Harris if ever properly fit could probably come straight back in and do it. Starc can but can also bowl pies very often. In england, I see Bird, Harris and Pattinson as far more effective than Siddle. Hilfy if on top of his game probably more suited to english conditions. Siddle has ton's of heart but if everybody was fit I just wonder?

He's improved a lot, but he's still just an honest toiler.

Serving a need for us, and a good player, but when others are fit, I can't see him being an automatic selection.

Bird / Patto would be my first two picked, then one of Cummins / Siddle / Starc.

Sure height can be an advantage but Harris isn't that tall yet he can go through a team when fit and firing. Just off hand I can remember Darren Gough wasn't tall.

Gough was a prodigious swinger of the ball, Harris two takes the ball away from batsmen regularly.

Siddle just doesn't have the weapons, he's 187cm, not small by any means. But when you only moved the ball occassionally it would be nice to push the batsmen back to accentuate that movement.

He just doesn't do enough with the ball.

He's actually taller than Pattinson at 6' 2" compared to 6' 1"

Siddle is too slow and not tall enough to get away with minimal ball movement.

Steyn moves the ball into the lefthander and away from the right hander at extreme pace.

Like I said, Siddle doesn't have the weapons, if he were taller that minimal movement may be exploited a little more as batsmen stay back in the crease.

He'd be no taller than Siddle but has more pace and strings to his bow than Siddle so can still be effective on flatter pitches.

Siddle is ohk. Only ohk. He should never be leading an attack as he is not dangerous enough he is a toiler. Lucky for us we have plenty of pace bowlers now and in the future. We just need more of them to be fit.

With a fit and firing full deck of cards IMO hes behind

Pattinson Bird Starc Johnson Harris Cummins.

He doesnt swing it a lot, nor seam it to much. Just a work horse.

I would trust Cummins to take wickets at international level more than I would Siddle. So yes.
