Peter Siddle

I cant believe people rate Johnson that highly. Clark is a better bowler. Pretty comfortably. I'd take Siddle over him aswell. Johnson does not swing the ball, his line and length is average and he is clearly not an allrounder. I think some of you guys are wishing and hoping more than actually knowing he is an allrounder.
Having read most of your posts about him, it's clear that you don't like the man, but I'm sorry, he is good. That good. The man has destroyed with bat and ball. What's not to rate about him?

Clark yes, Siddle no.

Mitchell Johnson may not swing the ball in much, but he can certainly move it sideways. His pace and ability to bowl a well-directed bouncer and slower ball are obvious assets. He is also fairly good from around the wicket and can generate reverse swing.

Besides, I don't think I've seen a spell like Johnson's at Perth, anyway.

been a fan of siddle from the moment i first saw him on the highlights of a shield game last season.

has a nice easy action, and very strong shoulders and hits the deck very very hard. also has good natural fast bowlers agression.

a fast bowling unit of him, Johnson and Hilfenhaus has a lot to like about it in the future. Of course we still have Stuart Clark to come back from injury and guide these youngsters till his retirement.

Liked the look of him playing for Victoria and glad he got a go for the Aussies, also glad he has put in some good performances.

Definately the spearhead of the attack for the future imo. Mitch has bowled well but is still too erratic. I like how Siddle can be threatning and keep it tight as well

As said needs to continue to work on his fitness. But has a huge heart and has to be appluaded for the way he has just kept charguing in.

Also love how he gets clusters of wickets once he gets his tail up.

I cant believe people rate Johnson that highly.

Probably something to do with the 60+ wickets he took in 2008, but hey who are we to look at stats?

On Siddle, superb stuff, really happy for him to shut some people up and prove he belongs on the big stage.

Look forward to watching both him and MJ wreak havoc on top orders around the world for years to come.

Top stuff Pete. :thumbsu:

RISING Australian paceman Peter Siddle has been ruled out of the one-day series against South Africa with a stress fracture in his foot.

Siddle, the man of the match in the third Test win over the Proteas at the SCG, has been replaced by Queensland swing bowler Ryan Harris for the first two matches in the five-game series.

Twenty20 sensation David Warner is also poised to be a late inclusion in the one-day squad with vice-captain Michael Clarke in doubt with a thumb injury.

Clarke is due to have an assessment on his right thumb in Melbourne on Wednesday and Warner, who hit 89 off 43 balls in his international debut on Sunday at the MCG, has been placed on standby.

Team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris reported Siddle has been playing with pain in his left foot which grew worse during the 2-1 Test series loss to South Africa.

"After the series was completed, we investigated and scans revealed the early signs of mild stress on a bone in his left foot," Kountouris said in a statement.

"As such, Peter needs a short period of rest before resuming bowling which we anticipate will be in a further two weeks.

"He is expected to take part in the one-day series against New Zealand in February."

Hmmm I hope he doesn't start to become Watson. He like Watson seems to be very injury prone.

Ryan Harris???

The Hilf continues to get ripped.

EDIT: Unless I'm reading that wrong and it's just the squad rather than the team.
Harris is taking his place in the squad which the Hilf is already in.
Shattered about this though.

given his history of injury I'd be inclined to only play siddle in test matches... the full international calendar will be too much for his injury prone body i feel... it's not as if he takes it easy on his body or anything...

just play him in the test matches... leave blokes like bracken to the pyjama cricket...

faaaaaaar out not good at all.

i know the stress fractures are new but injury prone sportsmen are just injury prone in general and with his history of shoulder problems this isn't good.

i agree with someone above, we should just leave him to test cricket. to be fair as well his bowling isn't as suited to one-day cricket as it is test cricket (he's a strike man, not really a container) and couple that with his generally fairly average fielding and terrible throw (because of shoulder reco's) i don't think it would hurt to put him just in the test team.... especially for now.
