I might see if Sids is interested in taking out Sri Lankan citizenship if you lot don't want him.

Want him, don't take the fact we're worried about his current form to be a complete insult to the guy.

I think he's got a great future - he just needs to go back to the Domestic Comp and work on his game; no different to Brett Lee, Michael Clarke, Hauritz etc.

He's young enough that it's not a career killer, and he hasn't played a huge amount of First Class Cricket.

out of form. i wouldn't chuck him out (career-wise that is, it's hard to say he couldn't be dropped). doesn't do himself any favors with the tail-bowling. doesn't tear them out like you would like to.

his ODI stats are not that bad considering he's only played 12 matches, 11 wickets at 36, econ 4.5. hopefully there's some improvement there.

Furthermore, many has been calling for Hiffenhaus to come back but Bollinger is the left arm version of Hiffenhaus, there is no need for H to be back for now. The current team of Siddle, Bollinger, Johnson are the perfect strike bowlers for Aus because Siddle offer aggression and bounce, bollinger offers swing, Johnson offers the x-factor and batting plus reverse swing from Watson.

Hilfenhaus swings the ball a lot more than Bollinger.

What exactly is this aggresion of Siddles that Bollinger doesn't offer?
Is it the 6 bouncers and over to a tail end batsman?
Because we can do without that

He certainly seemed to have better rhythm in this test. For most of the summer the ball just look a little bit pedestrian out of his hand. This test match the line was a lot better and the ball looked 'heavier.'

I think the key with Siddle is his line. The sort of pitch map you saw today was just about ideal. There is nothing wrong with him bowling balls short of a length to push the batsmen back and then attacking with a fuller ball.

Even if he does not take wickets himself he can set up the other bowlers really well if he keeps the good lines.

Good match from Siddle - happy to see him back in form.

I still see him and Bollinger fighting for the final pace spot when Hilf is fully fit.

Bollinger has been so much more effective than Siddle this Summer, he's got to be rewarded for his performances.

Looks like Hilfy will struggle to make the NZ trip so they will have 3 more tests to see wether Bolinger or Siddle keep their spot.

IMO if Siddle bowls like he did in the last test he will get the wickets and keep his spot, if he bowls like the early tests Bolinger will take his spot.

I agree, People seem to have short term memory loss. Hilfenhause was our best bowler in the Ashes series, and was one of our better bowlers before he injured himself.

Siddle has time on his hands, once he has wickets on his side in domestic form then reconsider him for the national side, but just at the moment, the Australian test bowling line up will be; 1. Johnson 2. Bollinger 3. Hilfenhause 4. Hauritz 5. Watson (6.) Katich.

With Siddle as back up for any injuries that may arise.

Most who have posted in this thread disagree (not me).
Thats because they don't have a clue.
He has had a bad summer due to not being fully fit for the better part of the summer. Last year wasn't a fluke

Johnson should be dropped, only one wicket for the match, thats just not good enough at this level, avearge is shit, etc, etc ;)

Whats that i hear, people defending him saying he was unlucky, has form behind him, etc, etc

Bit harder to bag siddle now he has done the job for the aussies, he out bowled every bowler this test and rightfully should keep his spot. Dont forget he was coming back from injury, now he is finding his line and length he will be dangerous.

Hillfy has missed over 3 -4 months of cricket, he is the one that needs to prove himself before he gets back in this team!

You do realise we played 6 Tests this Summer, not just the 1, right?

Bollinger's been our best quick this year. Doesn't go for much and applies pressure to the bats. We've lacked that. No chance he's going anywhere. Hilfenhaus is a certainly if fit. Johnson's a walk-up start. Siddle is some trouble making the 11 but not the 12. Siddle plays some very good matches at time but plays ordinary one's in between. Needs to improve his consistency both game to game and in-game. Doesn't always apply pressure.

Don't forget he is quite young in both age and terms of games played, moreso than the others. Young players are inconsistent in general. But yes if everyone is fit, right now he is the 12th guy picked.

TBH if we continue the idiocy of playing our Test bowlers in meaningless LOI games I don't think we have a selection problem anyway, by the time the Hilf is fit someone else will be injured.

i'm really pissed off with the n.s.w push carrying on about bollinger. he's and average medium fast trundler no more no less. there's much more upside to sids who can be genuinely menacing. i do agree though that he needs more variety and a few sessions with someone like lillee would be in his best interests. oh, and he can handle a bat too.

So how'd they go this Summer?
