Shane Mumford might just scrape in
Pick 57 in the rookie draft. Pretty silly of Richmond to overlook him.

Anyone else?

Hahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah good one :D
So who's better.

Rioli?
Dangerfield?
Grant?
Kreuzer?
Taylor Walker?
Harry Taylor?
Jack Grimes?
Otten?

Out of those guys Rioli is the only one that has significantly outperformed him, and he hasn't struggled with injury his whole career.

All the others have either done less or are about par.

Tom Bellchambers is still a good chance to make it, hell of a lot better chance than McMahon.

You're a moron if you can't see that Kreuzer, Harry Taylor, Shane Mumford, Cyril Rioli and Jack Grimes have clearly out performed Cotchin.

Kreuzer?

Cotchin was clearly ahead after year 1. He then missed 12 games in year 2, and struggled with injury the whole year. Kreuzer improved on his previous year and everyone forgot about Cotchin.

Then in year 3 Kreuzer started well before going down with injury. Cotchin then progressively got better as his fitness improved.

So far I'd say there isn't much in it. I'm biased, so I think Cotch is ahead, but at least I acknowledge it rather than calling people who disagree morons.

Kreuzer has always been ahead of Cotchin, but big men don't peak till their 23 or later.

Kreuzer hasn't missed a beat after leading the ruck from day dot.

Matt isn't a Vickery who is progressing slowly and might break through next year.

The ones in bold have CURRENTLY shown more than Cotch.

Rioli: Game breaker. Premiership player. Has turned the game in the Hawks favour on many occasions off his own boot.

Kreuzer: A ruckman, who is quick enough that he can play as a midfielder, who is smart and strong enough that he can play as a forward. Will be better than Dean Cox in his prime if he stays injury.

Taylor: AA Premiership KPD. One of the best young KPDs already and has often held the best opposition forwards very well.

Cotch and Dangerfield are probably on the similar level at the moment, ahead of the other 3.

Thats not to say that finally with an injury free pre-season Cotch will be better than them this year. Cotch has shown glimpses but nothing solidly consistent so far.

Typical deluded Richmond fan during pre-season

Kreuzer is miles ahead of Cotchin and always has been.

  1. Kruezer shown more than Cotchin to date 100%
  2. Cotchin being injured has held him back for sure
  3. Cotchin's upside is huge and looks rdy to break out big time
  4. Kruezer as a young ruck has shown so much and still has so much upside as well
  5. Who will be better in 3 years time - who knows
  6. Both clubs should be happy
  7. Both are behind Rioli from that draft (at this age - big K to be expected being a ruck)
  8. Grimes (underrated) from Melbourne has shown as much as Kruezer TBH but wouldnt have as much upside going fwd
  9. Taylor and Danger next then blanket the others
  10. A lot of people on this board potted Jarrad Grant on needs...think he is about to prove you wrong 2011 onwards...his build type just needed a bit longer...
  11. Neither club would want to exchange players and neither should they
  12. Richmond fans can expect final delivery from Cotchin this year...they have done very will at the trade table and can expect improvement as a club

Wha with this "always has been" talk?

Both the NAB rising star selecters and the majority of posters on bigfooty considered Cotchin ahead after 2008.
The majority of posters on bigfooty? Well to start with they're idiots and second your join date is May 2010. Something you're not telling us?

Cotchin has never shown anywhere near as much as Kreuzer, not even close.

Wow, you gauge how good a player is with how posters of Bigfooty see him. Wow...

Cotchin is just too slow atm, great hands great kick but at the moment Kruezer could beat him in a sprint.

I'm not telling you that I used to have an account, cancelled it, couldn't figure out how to reactivate it, and hence started a new one.

I gauge how good a player is by watchin them. It just so happens that 70% of people on this site, and far more importantly the NAB Rising Star judge's considered Cotchin the better player in 08.

Says who? Only Richmond supporters! Kreuzer debuted and stayed in the 22 (practically carrying our ruck) until his knee injury. You really are on drugs if you think Cotchin was anywhere near Kreuzer after year 1.

Then why do you think he is better than Kruezer (even though they are different players)

I really cant have a decent conversation with someone who has Simmons and Hislop in their names. In all seriousness are you taking the piss.... or are you that delusional?

Typical deluded Richmond fan during pre-season
It is the time of year when Richmond players are bigger, stronger, faster & more skilful than any other players in the competition. This will be the case until the last Thursday in March, when they all of a sudden become mere mortals again & have their season derailed in the space of 2 1/2 hours.

It was less than 2 years ago that one Richmond supporter proclaimed that Richmond's forward line & backline was better than ours & their midfield was the equal of ours. Of course this was quickly proven to be delusional by the Round 1, 2009 14 goal thrashing handed out to the Tigers & has been further shown up by 9 goal & 15 goal thrashings in 2010.

Says the NAB rising star voters.

Cotchin came 3rd playing only 15 games. Kreuzer game 5th from memory (maybe 4th) playing close to the whole season.

Says the bookies and punters, who had Cotchin at $31 to win the rising star and had Kreuzer at $51.

Says 70% of the people on the polls board:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=514403&highlight=kreuzer+cotchin&page=1

And that's asking who suited Carlton better, not who had the better year.

I'm not sure why I brought it up because it doesn't matter who was ahead after year 1 or 2, only year 3 and beyond.

Having said that I thought you would be unbiased enough to admit that Cotch was ahead after year 1, with Kreuzer clearly being ahead after year 2.

Year 3 I can accept you saying Kreuzer, but I generally don't rate ruckmen full stop and rate them almost solely on their work around the ground.

Keep stringing him along. The more times he says it the more likely we are to get some decent sigs out of it :D
How'd that last one work out?

The one about Richmond being in a good position to attract some opposition players?:D

Then why do you think he is better than Kruezer (even though they are different players)

I generally don't rate ruckmen that highly, because even the tap work of the best is pretty horrible and often to disadvantage. Cotchins work around the ground is better than Kreuzers hence why I rate him higher. I also think Kreuzer's a bit overated as a forward. He's a handy option but probably no better than most other big guys who cause mismatches with their height.

You're a moron. Attracting players is getting the likes of Nick Stevens, Chris Judd, Brock McLean and Lachlan Henderson, not guys like Shaun Grigg, Brad Miller and Bachar Houli.

Was an absolute joy watching them play together at TAC level.....one would leave you shaking your head in disbelief one minute, then vice versa....definitely need to reunite them on-field ;) Get Cotchin to our change roooms at half time, or get him supporting us as a kid :thumbsu:
