Thank you Matthew for your service. You took on a job at a club on its knees in a number of ways.

You have provided tutelage and guidance through a difficult period, and from all the feedback we have received, you are a very popular and respected person amongst this club. You have been a good person to have at our club, and we are now in a better place than when you started. This is a credit to you.

As we stand in April 2025, we have moved past this stage, and our attention must turn to excellence, and achieving the ultimate goal (A Premiership). We feel that to achieve this, we need the most highly skilled coach, with a proven track record of extracting a high level of output, an astute tactician, and a leader of men. We do not believe you are the person to achieve this and feel now is the best time to part ways. We thank you for your service, and wish you all the best.

Statistically, and wrt to tactics/innovation/responsibility etc etc etc.

ONE redeeming feature --- the feel-good factor, which is damn-near irrelevant to success (does anyone think Blighty was his players' friend?).

DAVIS is the obvious replacement, but I'd throw a pile of money @ Buckley.
If he says no, then Simpson.

I would say Shaw. But he netted us Jarman, McLeod, Edwards, Goodwin. So he beats nicks just on that.

Shaw was only here 2 years. Nicks has been here 6. It’s a lot worse under Nicks.

Shaw was only here 2 years. Nicks has been here 6. It’s a lot worse under Nicks.

Our old Board worked out quickly Shaw was not up to it... whereas our current Board extended Nicks with a worse winning record.

Do you trust the current Board to make good decisions?

Bit late to this thread but...

Sack Nicks (Should have happened last year).

Feels like he helped stabilise the club and fix the culture but he won't get us to the next level.

We need to be able to have a 'man conversation' at club level.

We can agree and acknowledge that Nicks did a very good job of rebuilding club trust, loyalty and cohesion. At the same time we can also agree that he is not the coach to take us through to winning finals and a premiership.

It's time (well past it actually) to move on and bring in a quality coach that understands tactics - AND surround him with quality assistants. None of this rolling over the existing assistants because it's easier.
