CLYDE THE 12 YEAR OLD......

Sunday afternoon.....

Doesn't happen at mine unless I throw food or it's not so hot and I stand up the back of the yard and call to him. Great video.

I don't seem to have masterd the art of downloading a video onto this site, I do my photos thru imageshack.

hey guys does anyone know how to train a dog and cat to get along girlfriend got a new cat and my border collie isnt getting along with him any tips cheers in advance:thumbsu:
Sorry can't help, our cat hates the dogs. But we had Max long before Archie came along with his puppy antics, would have thought it would be easier with a new cat and existing dog though. Anyway, best of luck, let us know how it goes.

hey Gab, set up a youtube account and upload to that. Then link in your post with the media button.

So we put an old futon on our deck with an old bedspread on it so the dogs could sleep on it, Archie seemed to be loving it, spent most of a coolish day yesterday coiled up asleep in it. Last night I fed the dogs as usual around 7.30 - 8.00, then went to check on them about 30 minutes later..

Must've been fun

Intro, we adopted our first dog "Cosby" a Kelpie Blue healer x, after we got home from our honey moon. Cosby sadley had to be put down after 13 great years. We then inherited our Lab "Banjo" from a work mate. He was a breeding dog and had run his course. For a Lab he is quite big, and more white than gold. (yes the breeder was reputable). We got him 10 years ago, papers and all.

Anywho, he is now 13. About 18 months ago I thought "gee he looks like he has a limp", took him to the vet and nothing wrong. Well in the past 10 months things have gone from bad to worse. Had all the injections for arthritis, and still having them once a month. Anti inflam havn't helped either.

Last Tuesday Vet tells me it must be degenerative, maybe we could try "Stem Cell" theropy, or maybe get a trolly for him.

Just want some opinions, obviously both options are quite expensive. He is not in pain, has anyone else gone through this, Banjo is our second dog "baby", but we are realistic as well.

Hi CLP,

Sorry to hear of Banjo's problems, wish I was expert enough to be able to give you any useful advice, our dogs have thankfully not had a lot of these types of issues. Hopefully someone else here can help you, 'cause every Lab's worth doing your best for. Maybe a second opinion from another vet? Any chance of a pic of the big fella?

Not very tech savvy, SBaz but will try. He is a good looking dog.

Can't say I've experienced this type of thing with my dogs CL. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the matter. Sounds like you've done just about everything a responsible dog owner can do, don't give up.

Hope Banjo pulls through.

No we had someone come do it, The malamute wasn't so nice when we got him lol. He was going to be put to sleep in a pound in Melbourne the next day after we saw him online, we flew him up to the Gold Coast he weighed 16 kilos when we got him and he had been abused. Two broken hands from him biting me and a few thousand dollars with a specialist trainer later and we have a gorgeous boy now well worth it.

Wow, that's dedication, he's obviously worth it, congratulations.

He and my mrs have had a very special bond since the day we got him, i think she would have kicked me out before letting the dog go lol. You also can't blame the behaviour of the dog on him when obviously someone else had put him in a place mentally to do something like that. We now have 5 acres of 6ft fencing going in and are converting a huge shed with aircon insulation ect into two large kennels so we can foster some more huskies and mallies and so they cannot sneak off. I wanted a cat :(

I know how you feel, we were just going to "have a look" at some pups when we got Archie, the story is somewhere back in the bowels of this great thread.

Hiya buddy hope this may help
My Anatolian who is a large girl of almost 70 KG's now had a ongoing bad limp we took her to the vets who gave a few different reasons for it each visit then they had her x-rayed they found two little crevices in her knees they couldn't figure out like a V so they wanted to do a Arthriscope on both knees because they thought that was the reason which was going to cost roughly 7 grand.

We rang the breeder who said don't do it, take her to a chiropractor 2 minutes with him a couple of hammers latter and 45 bux he had straightend out her spine he said was out of place and common in all dogs and makes them put weight on one side of their body to compensate which tightens the muscles and causes jarring and he said she would limp even worse for two days then she would be fine and she was, we took her back one month later it was a little out then never had to see him again..They also help with animals with major arthritis give it a go the worst that can happen is you lose 45 bux the best can save you thousands and bring your dog relief.

I thought my mrs was crazy when they first talked about it by i was converted. We told the vets when we got her next shots and they didn't believe us and thought is was bs.

Sorry to double post but to add to the last one of the things the chiro said that swayed me was sometimes with this the dogs face tightens up as well and the side that it does the eye area tightens up and is smaller this was not happening at the time we saw him and we never thought much of it or said anything to him about it.
As you can see in the photo below Nakita has one eye smaller than the other which is no longer the case 375375_10150423721496684_739032493_n.jpg

Hey CLP, how's it going with Banjo?

Banjo walks like he is drunk, still no pain and he seems happy. Its not nice to watch, you do wonder.

I will give the chiro a shot thanks Sidebottom2Beams.

by the way, tried to upload a photo, said it was too big, will see if the kids can help:confused:
