Whats up with it? Its hard work being a forward in a richmond forward line that is very much richo orientated.

We are just starting to see Schulz show somthing and becuase our big blokes have been playing pretty well (schulz, richo and polak) the midfielders seem to just bomb it long to them everytime instead of taking their time and finding the best option.

Pettifer on the forward flank is important to us, can kick goals from outside 5 and is generally a pretty good kick.

Krakouer on the other hand who is played as a Forward pocket , is not what he is supposed to be doing, crumbing goals or at least getting in the postion to crumb goals.

If we had a fully fit forward line our set up would be pretty damn impressive,Schulz playing out of the sqaure, Richo around the 30-50 mark, Kingsley the lead up player, Brown the crumbing and leading small forward who knows where the goals are, and Pettifer and eiether Pat Bowden or Tambling playing up the ground more as the other flank

every now and then seems to regress to bad old habits of not putting in a good enough effort.

Needs to stamp this out of his game completely. Looked like he had last season, but this season there have been some signs.

spot on, except I wouldn't bother with Kingsley. I'd have Hyde on one flank and Tivva on the other. Both players don't play enough on the forward flank but I think it's their best position. Petts is out of form after a great round 1 performance

Tivva Richo Hyde
Brown Schultz Pettifer

Actually I don't mind hyde in the forward line he's a nice kick for goal especially on the run.

I watched a replay of the game and pettifer wasnt even that bad, he was starved of oppitunitys as most of our forwards where, how dumb are our midfielders they get the ball and try play on as quick as they can and they handball to much and turn it over, and when they actually get the ball out and head towards the forward line they eiether A- bomb it long to one of the talls who have 2 or 3 players on them, or they try and boot the goals themself and kick a point. Im Sick of it, its not the forward line or backline that is costing us the games its our midfielders stuipidity that is.

Foley for all his good is one of the worst at this he turns it over like there is no tomorow, and even half of his handballs go straight to a player who gets caught straight away.

Id like to see our guys slow the game down and play it on our terms, too often we are caught holding the ball, throwing the ball of directly turning it over as a result of us trying to play beyond what we can acheive.

yeah we are too keen to play on and Foley needs to relax with the handballs

Bloody too much handpassing causes turnovers, why don't the kick the damn thing and use the corridor to the forward line which is the shortest way possible to goal.We have big blokes like richo and schulz who can take contested marks but we persist with this stupid chipping game.

what are you clowns talking about. he is the softest player on the list. some of his efforts in a marking contest the last few weeks have been discraseful. being a half forward flanker he applies zero forward pressure and this is part of the reason the delivery is so rushed cos the mids are doing double the work in running up and down.

in the words of chopper on the ronnie johns half hour he needs to " harden the f@ck up!!!!!!"

What a hypocrite you are take some of your own advice and stop bagging our players.

Well, kicking goals from the goal square is always easy :p

Seriously, Pettifer struggling is more to do with the ilk of players we have. We have no proven small/medium forwards playing at the moment, so the opposition's best small/medium defender will man up on Kayne.

When KK and Browny are back fit and playing, oppositions will man them up first, leaving Kayne on a lesser type. Then he should start playing his best footy again.

That just about sums you up as a person doesn't it?,you can't even have a rational debate without dissing somebody. Btw I did give reasons why I thought patto would never make it but like i said you never bothered to read them.As for pettifer I was one of his worst critics a few years ago and wanted him delisted but then he started hit his straps and kick goals which is what he paid for and what I wanted him to do,we all know he's never been hard at it and never will be but as long as he can average 2 to 3 goals a game I have no problems with that.atm he needs to be dropped because he's playing like he did a few years ago but I'm sure he can come back because even though he's a front runner he can kick accurately for goal and he can also kick 50 plus metres which not a lot of players can do.

for once in both our lifes i can actually agree with something you wrote and i will be man enough to admitt i was wrong. i do agree witha few of your points and dont a few. you cannot use the excuss "will never be hard enough" and he isnt avr 2-3 goals atm. but i do agree he needs to be dropped. however i hope he regains last 2 yrs form cos he is dangerous with form like that.

good to agree on something hey buddy-o-pal?????

He's never a hard at type and I use to hate his guts when he first played,I use to call him petticoat but my late friend would stick up for up and say to me well he was picked up high in draft for a reason give him a chance. He was bit of a fan of his and I use to think what is he on about, but slowly i changed my opinion of him only because of his ability to kick goals and he has won us a few close games as well.Even though he's a soft player and a front runner he does have a natural ability to kick goals.

The first part of that post is one of the finest pieces i have ever read from you , not sure about the second half , bit harsh . Take schulz and Polak out of that mix , then again you could be right

Pettifer should have been on the trade table last year , Wallace was negligent on this one . His value will never be higher . Then again , maybe he was and we just don`t know it . Either way Pettifer has shirked many issues this year and i am dissappointed he has not paid for it . Meyer has gone well enough in the last couple to hopefully tip him out next week if there is another poor showing .

:) ANSWERED your own question!

Yes, it is hard work being a forward...especially in the Richmond forward line.

But what Pettifer needs to learn is HE needs to work hard. That includes tackling, harrassing and presenting himself.

Unfortunately he does none of these things well.

Like when was the last time he laid a tackle? Seriously.

LMAO at some of his attempts to bump players...generally 10 seconds later that he ought to. He seems to think he's Dermott Brereton, but hits about as hard as an infant!!!

Needs to lift his work ethic to stave off Danny Meyer being included next week.

Just out of interest, when was the last time we produced a good crumbing goal?

Isn't this what the likes of Pettifer and Krakouer are there for?

i've been a massive supporter of petts over the past few years -always felt he had the ability - and has shown he definitely does - but this season, he has looked like a little lost lamb - he needs to add some serious aggression to his game and hardness. in the second quarter against the doggies i remember the ball trickling out of bound on the flank and Kayne turned to get agro in a doggies guy face. the doggie player didn't even flinch and kayne just looked lilke a knobhead.

i think kayne can be a deadly player for us, he seems to be a "barometer" play, in that when he is usually up and at it and is pumping those fists in the air after a goal - it seems to lift everyone - but he cant just try and act tough! you gotta be tough, everytime, chase players, be aggressive and this season he looks to be anything but those points
