I stuffed up and put my selection in the discussion thread. Go excited that both Armitage and Boak were still there.

Carlton - #19 - Travis Boak

Gone for an inside mid in Armatage at 17, now for a classy outside mid in Boak at 19. Can run and carry the ball, has some pace, and knows where the goals are as well. Good overhead as well for a guy who is only 182cm.

Stoaked to get Gibbs,Armitage and Boak with my first 3 selections in the PD.

(BTW guys, I will be going on holidays tomorrow for a week, and will have pretty much no Internet access. Gilly1972 knows who I want at #35 and #51, so he will be making these selctions for me)

I do :D and i will:

a) Sell the information to the highest bidder, or

b) Select those players with Melbourne's picks #30 and #46

:D :p

Pick # 20- Mitchell Brown- Essendon

Decided to go tall again with who i consider the next best tall, played very well up forward in the championships and could be a 50-60 yr goalkicker. A replacment for Lloyd/Lucas, he could even play down back as well. Very happy with my first 3 selections.

Pick 21 - North Melbourne.

Select

Nathan Brown- The roos a crying out for KPP and have selected Scott Gumbleton with their first pick and beleive he will hold down CHF for years to come, with pick 21 the Kangaroos select Nathan Brown, the Brother of Mitch, he is a tall, athletic, strong key defender with good pace and hates to lose a contest, we at north melbourne beleive a strong spine is a must and althogh it was very hard to overlook some of the midfielders, with the likes of wells, smith, harris, swallow, riggio, urch and grima, our midfield is already very competitive, we beleive brown can hold down a Key defensive post for years to come and forge a strong on field relationship with developing key defender joel perry, with drew petrie as the third tall

I must admit I was pretty surprised to get Nathan at 28 and then Mitch at 44 in the first run.

Hodgey, i've started a sticky with all the updates, so you don't need to bother here. :thumbsu:

I must say our midfield is looking sensational atm.

Murphy, Simpson, Stevens, Walker, Gibbs, Armitage, Boak, Bentick, Blackwell, Scotland, Houlihan

Only concern there would be a ?? over outside finishers. I know Boak is outside but perhaps someone like Collard or O'Keefe would have suited. That said, still love the selections.

I think theire outside finishers are their strength, may not be super quick like the Eagles, but most have excellent disposal. It's getting the ball to these players that't the trouble, inside mids aren't great and without a dominant ruckman directing the ball to them could be difficult, as given the midfielders aren't that quick they may find it hard to shake tags and create space.

Fair point Macca.
Was hoping to get both Hislop and Armitage/Connors, but more than happy with the 3 mids so far.

You know what?

Leroy Jetta slipping to Pick 18???

Clayton Collard Pick 7?

Switch 'em and all is rosy.

I'd shoot meself if the Eagles had either Jetta or Collard to choose from and picked someone else (unless the said 3rd player is a Bryce Gibbs or a Scott Gumbleton, bloody likely )

Sinepari you bloody idiot for missing Jetta :p

I'd hope the Eagles can pick up (being realistic)

Clayton Collard/Leroy Jetta
Bachar Houli
Carl Peterson (:thumbsu:)
Michael Griffiths (Eagles have expressed interest)
Brock O Brien

Dunno, just some suggestions...

MG

Brisbane pick 22- Jack Riewoldt

This was not in my plans. I simply did not have Riewoldt dropping to this level. In my estimation he was a definite top 10.
Therefore to ignore JR would be like not taking Cameron Wood two years ago when he dropped to 19.

A little about young Jack. He is a 193cm. and 83kg. Another talented, versatile tall KP Tasmanian that is suited in many positions. Has played in a key back role for Tasmania and as a Key forward. He has excellent marking abilities and would add considerably to Brisbane's already potent forward line. A good addition to the existing list of talls such as Brown, Bradshaw, Clark, Brennan. Jack Riewoldt has been very impressive in the VFL, especially in the last half of the season. In fact he's outshone his more illustrious partner in crime Thorp. Welcome to the Den JR.

I do not expect Jack to drop to pick 22 in the real draft.

Pick 23# Port Adelaide - Craig Bird - Inside Midfielder - NSW

I've seen alot of both OBrien and Jetta this year. Having considered our current list & best available, i truely believe OBrien is the better option.

Gee it pains me to overlook the likes of Houli, Djerkurra, Allen and Tippett, but

Pick #23 - Craig Bird

Is an exceptional talent IMO. Won the medal for the best u/16 player and despite not being at his best at the championships still racked up some pretty impressive stats. More than twice the clearances of any player, 2nd most tackles anr 3rd in hard ball gets IIRC. Looks to be a natural leader also, may not be the most talkative player, but leads by example. Has a very professional approach, and he is bottom age. Was exceptional in the Allies game. He is the best clearance player in the draft, and has very good skills and can go forward and kick goals. Has a bit of Lenny Hayes about him. May well be a bolter on the 25th.

I've finished exams :D :D :p

Thanx for your concern though :thumbsu:

Happy with Leuenberger and Bird for Port btw? Simple yes or no would suffice if your shy ;)

I'm going to gamble, the player i wanted here i'm hoping will be available at Pick 33 and probably will be, not ranked by many on these boards. ;)

Pick 24

Bachar Houli - 180cm - 84 kgs

Exciting onballer who absolutely torched them when he was the Captain of the under 16 Victorian squad, be4 injury cut him down last year. Heaps and heaps of positives about Houli, where do u start. Brilliant by hand and foot, clubs will be wetting themselves with his skill. Rarely waste a possesion and puts teamates into space with a laser short pass on the chest or perfectly weighted kick to advantage. By hand their isnt many better in this whole draft than Bachar. Clean with no fumbles, just couldnt pass on a guy that i have ranked inside my top 10.
Fills the Hawks requirements of must be able to kick and should be ready to play some senior footy in 2007.
