I have a young son (10) who loves big footy (and the Blues) and is right into the phantom drafts.

He keeps the top 6 on a bit of paper and was showing me last night, with some interesting figures, which I said I would post for him.

Of 20 drafts: These were the main choices of the masses.

1. Melb - Watts 19/20 selected him as a Demon.
2. WCE - Rich 14/20 Naitanui 6/20
3. Freo - Naitanui 11/20 Rich 8/20
4. Port - Vickery 13/20
5. Ess - Hurley 10/20
6. Carl - Hurley 6/20 Hartlett 5/20

We all know that these choices historically change depite the "experts" thinking they are set in stone, but the top three does seem to be locked in, with plenty of support for Vickery and Hurley at 4 and 5.

If that is the way the top 5 go, my son wants to know is it Hartlett, Ziebell, Yarran, Sidebottom, Johnston or Lisle who also got nominations for Carlton or someone from left field.

Over to you "experts"

To answer your question.

Basically these are the main players selected in most Mock drafts for Carlton.

1. Hurley
2. Ziebell
3. Hartlett
4. Yarran or Sidebottom or Trengove or Johnston (Lisle is always 10+ in most phantom drafts)
Roughly that order.

Hartlett or Ziebell are the popular choices if Hurley is gone, ahead of all the rest you mentioned.

Of course I am no expert, but that is the general concensus of what I have been reading.

Seems with Vickery coming into contention, that the top 7 will be in no particular order, Watts, Rich, Natanui, Vickery, Hurley, Hartlett, Ziebell.

I still reckon either Yarren or Sidebottom could sneak into that top 7. They are the two chances to throw it. Maybe Trengove being a third.

Heard him on SEN this morning. He's not your average "yeah, nah" rookie by the sounds of it. Didn't realize the Richmond connection although he says he couldn't be stuffed where he goes, including interstate. Hope his knee issues are behind him.

Most Richmond people can't be stuffed... bad genetics.
