Pick 17 - Carlton - Ricky Petterd (QLD)

Have been keen on him since seeing him at the championships and was hoping he'd slip through to this pick. Very skillful midfielder who uses the ball very well.

Can get the hardball, whilst can provide good run as well. Good linkman. I likened him to the way Brock McLean moves.

Dunno bout the comparrison to mclean. Lot more silkier than Mclean. Loved the way on occasions he kicked across his body [aka Darren Jarman] when he didnt have much time and pinpointed teammates on the t!t.

Classy Midfielder imo, good pick.

This is what I understand:

Weaknesses: Whilst not slow, not pacy. Others have commented that his aggression can go over the top and he can start trying to thump guys if frustrated.

Kevin Sheehan on Tom Hislop:

Medium midfielder/forward, Hislop averaged 20 possessions and five marks in the championships. He also had the most tackles (24) in division two, highlighting his strong aggressive style. Champion Data player rankings had him score 478 points - one less than Vic Metro's Tom Hawkins.

Very smart footballer who uses the ball very well. Could play on a HBF and eventually move up onto a wing. IMO, the second best player in the U18 champs behind Bryce Gibbs

Bit of a surprise selection mate. I had Moss in the 30's somewhere, but you gotta love this guys intensity. Nice get nonetheless.
