This is bad news for Australian cricket. The Adelaide road of a pitch will make him look good, then he'll get found out again on the international scene.

Say what? Morne Morkel and Harmlesson tore him a new one with bouncer barrages. He's got the technique of an U/12
And how did he go the first time in South Africa facing Steyn as a 20 year old? Or did the pitches get bouncier last time?

His problems are outside the off-stump after bouncers, Adelaide isn't going to help him fix those issues.

Sometimes suspect he reads off the pitch which is probably why he deals with length changes so badly.

Adelaide has zero bounce so i suspect he will be racking up tons with regularity next season thats for sure.

That is also where he scores his runs. Outside off to quick bowlers....

Hughes' technique is not very good. He also has problems when the ball is aimed at his body and also to slower bowling.... But the guy does have an amazing eye... He will get plenty of oppurtunity with the Redback whereas at the Blues he was probably always 2 or 3 poor performances away from being dropped...

Bit of a soft option, going to the state where even if you continually underperform you're safe in the knowledge there is bugger all behind you (see fergusson).

Hope he succeeds and becomes a good, long term Australian player, because I feel he's amongst a few players who've been terribly handled around the national side, but wish he'd gone to Qld or somewhere where he'd be tested a bit more on what he needs to work on.

Blues are going to be terrible this season. They have always underperformed given the amount of internataional prospects and regulars/former regulars in their squad - now these players are leaving cos apparently the coaching envionment and attitude of cricket NSW is terrible. NSW has always been full of pretenders simply playing for higher hounours rather than as a unit cos the national selectors were always getting their arm pulled by Cricket NSW. NOt anymore though.

Katich, Hughes, Jaques gone, Brett Lee refused to sign, Cowan left - its all looking grey for NSW cricket at the moment.
I see where you are coming from now, you are from NSW... You see, I couldnt care less how well they are doing domestically all I care about is they keep churning out gun kids to play for Australia as SA sure as hell can't... All SA can do is recruit other states slops.... Hughes is by far the best recruit we have had in a long time

My grief is that there has been too many NSW players in the Aussie side who shouldnt have been there in the first place. Would the likes of Hughes, Kwajaja, Smith, Hauritz got gigs and so many goes if they didnt play for NSW? Thats why Katich went there in the first place.

Heaps of talent across the country who should get Aussie gigs over those hacks. The likes of Hussey, Hayden, Langer had to force down the door with shield runs to get a go. Hodge, Dave Hussey, Quiney all victims of this.

But then again every now and then they rush in an unknown like S.Waugh, McGrath or young Cummins..... I am very grateful to NSW cricket otherwise Australia would not be so mighty as we have been

love how people quote his good record at the adelaide oval. big difference is he wont be facing the SA attack on the adelaide oval anymore but half decent attacks instead.

Bit of a soft option to leave but can understand why. Is at the crossroads of his career and a change could be good for him. Just gotta hope Berry can work on his technique which is his whole issue.

Seems to be some sour grapes by non South Aussies.... Take imports Wade, Rogers and Hussey out of Victoria and see how they travel.... Hughes will love it in Adelaide....

A word of advice since you're new - don't go down this road.

Final warning.
