love the NSW media. story on sports tonight about jaques' two hundreds putting pressure on the 'out of form langer'. he scored 188 a fortnight ago:rolleyes:

Why drop Langer who has done nothing wrong? As good as Jaques's form is, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Sports Tonight is a national broadcast with a national audience.

How is it "NSW media"?

It is based out of Sydney and the league is the priority, over other more important shows. It has a NSW bias........

Well just getting back to the original point, Melbourne's Herald Sun also made a push for PJ in todays paper. They quoted Langer's run of one 50 in his last 7 tests. Doesn't sound like a NSW bias to me.

Sports Tonight definitely favours NSW.
In what way?

If you're talking about a skew towards Rugby League, that's probably got more to do with the size of the Sydney market compared to Adelaide and Perth.

In the context of this discussion - that Sports Tonight unduly pushed Phil Jaques because of a NSW bias - I think people are buying into some pretty lame conspiracy theories.

"Oh it's shot in Sydney so they pump up NSW players."

That's bull.

The reality is that it's a slow period in sport. A fringe player making consecutive centuries against the Poms is actually pretty big news, and talking up his selection chances just makes it more of a story.

It might be a beat-up, but I think it's driven by a desire to inflate the story's news value rather than any NSW bias.

ST has a NSW slant to it for sure. Biggest giveaway is throughout the winter when they show the League before the AFL.
ST are definately biased towards NSW.. You can tell from the A-League as well, everytime MVFC thump the Scum.
You Victorians are just paranoid.

"Sports Tonight care more about Sydney! But we're important too!"

I thought about it.

But I dismissed it pretty quickly, because I actually know what I'm talking about and most people on here don't.
Ok, keep up the good work then :thumbsu:

Browney, heres a tip, just ignore him.

Best way, you dont talk and he starts to get pissed as he wants the attention.
That's right.

The knowledge that I've battered the muppets into silent submission with my superior intellect makes me so mad.

You've discovered my Achilles Heel.

Translation: I'm too scared to express anything less mundane than this, because I can't handle having my opinions challenged.
What is your opinion on this matter? It seems all you are doing is sitting on the fence, challening people for having an opinion whilst offering none yourself.

It doesn't matter who he is going to replace or not replace, the question is - should Jaques be playing for Australia in the Ashes?

No, he shouldn't.

There's no doubt that he's good enough, and that he's earnt a crack, but there's just no room for him at the moment, especially with our insistence on picking an all-rounder.

He's a better batsman than Shane Watson, but Watson's bowling means he'll get the nod at #6.

Jaques just needs to keep making runs. That way he'll be the only choice when Langer finishes up.
