He wa
Wasn't it windy because they'd knocked half the stands at the MCG down?

My biggest what if is not winning the Premiership in 2006, by far the best team that year but lost it mentally after a thumping by the Eagles at Subi in Round 17. Probably should have still won the Prelim but got destroyed by Cousins in the second half.
Benny would have had an all nighter after that one, he was SPEEEEECIAL !!!

Which candidates and when did Ruchi speak with them? Quoting Rooch on this board should be a hanging offence. This clown has attempted to destabilise the Crows in every article he has written for the rag since we got Walsh. Must be really stinging down there at the swamp.
His name wasn't actually on the page anywhere that I quoted. I didn't know it was him.
This is typical Rucci. Which candidates? Why did they feel this way? What a load of horseshit. Half truths and whispers stacked together to propose a possible version of what happened. End of the day, who cares.
I totally agree with you. I thought this the first time I read it. This infers that Rooch had talked to the interviewees the first time they went to the club. Yet he never knew that Phil Walsh had even been interviewed at that point so this obviously didn't happen. And did he talk to anyone the second time around? No, because he did not have any quotes from anyone. And as if the board would have given that impression to Bolton and Dew. As if those 2 would have even have known who the other candidate/s were and as if Bolton and Dew would have wasted their time going to the 2nd interview if they already felt they had no hope of securing the job.
I think you guys need to separate the Rucci hate from the basic fact in the article: Ricciuto met Walsh months ago and left the meeting very impressed with him. The rest of the article might be agenda-laden confection but this fact alone suggests to me that the sacking of Sando might have been made with him in mind. I don't actually see how this is a bad thing.

The meeting was about the CEO, no worries I agree that's not an issue.

Yes, he met him to pick his brains (about more than just the CEO it sounded). And he said:

"I thought at that interview that this bloke is pretty clever — and one thing lead to another." That's suggestive at least.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BRENTON Sanderson is on holiday in the U.S. with his closest friends describing the sacked Crows coach as “sad”. It also is the best way to sum up his quick demise at the Adelaide Football Club.

Ultimately, Sanderson’s tortured behaviour in his last six weeks as Adelaide coach can be used against him — as they were in that infamous “review” at West Lakes — to suggest the Crows board had no choice but to seek change

There is an account of Sanderson standing before his bewildered players at half-time ranting that if they continued to play as they had in the previous two quarters “you will get your wish; Simon Goodwin will be your coach”. This highlights how the curse of any AFL coach — paranoia — had become a cancer against Sanderson’s tenure at West Lakes.

Unfortunately another shit article from someone that still is eating sour grapes having missed the biggest AFL story in SA in 2014.

If that is the case then I am glad the Board stuck with the guy the wanted the most from the beginning ... and were not "blown away" simply by another candidate's powerpoint presentation and one off game day simulation to allow them to do a "Bradbury" and be appointed on that basis.

I did hear Fagan actually say that they were "blown away" by Walsh in general tho and that's acceptable.

who gives a **** what the Roach writes?

Fact is, our new CEO, the board and anyone else involved in the hiring were blown away by Walsh, so they hired him

Whether we were into him months ago or weeks ago, it doesn't matter! Fact is, he is our coach and he needs to deliver

Some of the Port fans are massively offended (Rooch) some are ok with it and some have passed on their well wishes

But **** em all. **** em all over and over again. This is the AFC, the Roovolution will help turn this club around and we will dominate once again

They are just scared. They were barley relevent when we were shit in 2013 and 2014. They'll fade back into oblivion when we become a powerhouse again and they are running scared because of it

Bring it on AFC. Our time is now

"There is an account" sound like another euphemism for I just made this up because it sounds plausible and it doesn't have to be true because its only "an account" ....
It's very reminiscent of OK and NW magazines and the like where "a source close to the star said ..." or "a close friend of the actor said" ..... um .... not that I read those girly magazines ... like ... ever :)

There's always going to be winners and losers in all of this and this is a biased interpretation written solely to sell papers and get a reaction. Who cares, ignore it.

That is a disgraceful article. Tortured behaviour? Rucci didn't say at the time. A hatchet job by a weasel who is employed by a shite organisation. Bizarre.
Facebook was full of offended Power fans today in that article slagging Roo off. Was as disgraceful as the article

If that story from Rucci is true (and I don't believe it for a second) it only highlights that Sanderson absolutely had to go.

You can't have a senior coach saying something like that in the middle of a game.
The funny thing is tho (IF this actually happened) if the Crows had gone on to win that game and then made the finals and done well it would go down as a piece of effective motivating. But because of how things turned out it can be looked back on now as a sign of the beginning of the end, so to speak.

Like when Blight left the coach's box early well before the quarter had finished that time. If the club had not made finals that year then it would have been looked back on as when the players lost faith in him ... same with the "pitiful Pittman" (I know he said pathetic) comments. End results always decide how these things are judged.

Ruci seems to be peddling hard on this one, his usual style but you can't believe it's true and did not come out until now. Is he finally under the pump to deliver and is resorting to desperate tactics? I thought that was a fake article a parody of Rucci.

Here's a better article about Walsh [in depth] clearly written by a legitimate journalist that took the time to do some research.....something foreign to Rucci!!

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/cr...born-to-fly-high/story-fndv862c-1227086993994

A quote from the article..
“I’d say Walshy was limited skill-wise, but jeez, he was fit,” Bell says. “That was his key. He was a good player, courageous, all that stuff. He was a hard working, defensive winger. That’s what he was about.
“So the Crows, they won’t be unfit — you can write that one down.”
