They skipped ahead to acceptance in the program.
I think from a fans perspective, we actually went through the 5 stages during the course of the match, and most of it is evident in the weekly thread.

I haven't brought myself to do any reading in the wake of the game, the extent of recaps I've seen were on ESPN and the Around the NFL podcast. But from those 2 it sounds like we had some O-line injuries as well as (more) injuries on defence.

Maybe there's a silver lining. Maybe it forces us to bring in some better offensive linemen. Maybe, if we're fair dinkum about this 3-headed RB monster, we even give up a draft pick or 2 to get some linemen in.

I can imagine Chip Kelly doing that petulant eye-roll at the notion. "Pffft. Guards. As if you even bother until everyone else has filled up their roster with the best 125 Guards in the country."

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Eagles RT Lane Johnson has been diagnosed with both a sprained MCL and ankle, but is expected to start Sunday's game against the Saints.

It's surprising until you remember that Johnson played through the injury on Sunday. Still, it's a fair question whether rest might be the best long-term solution. We wouldn't consider Johnson a guarantee for Week 5 just yet. The Eagles' fragile running game can ill afford to lose its powerful right tackle.

Personally, I think we are screwed, but people are writing their obituaries prematurely for Kelly and the team IMO. One game from the lead in a terrible division, not the worst schedule, if the line issues get fixed then this team can roll. Will be pretty funny if that happens. A lot of people (myself included) will look pretty stupid.

At least Bradford wasn't complete dogshit this week ...
He still hasn't got a prayer going forward because of that offensive line.

I watched a fair bit of the match again today. It frustrated me even more. Starting alongside the QB with no momentum, and asking him to move parallel isn't Murrays go. It suits Matthews a bit more - the more I see glimpses of Matthes, he could be our "Shady-lite" - but we aren't using him!

But we can't run north/south because of the O-line problem that I'll keep whinging about, and because Kelly doesn't use any semblance of an i-formation anyway.

Which, in my view, all leads to the lack of rush protection causing Bradford bigger problems than our lack of pass protection. Matthews, Agholar and Ertz can't get open because teams can completely sell out the run against us and we still don't make yards. This is a bigger problem than any lack of time in the pocket, because while it's been a problem, it hasn't been in the top 5 problems that we've been having.

The worst bit about re-watching yesterdays game? It absolutely confirmed everything I said in the weekly thread and got in an argument about. Washington are horrible. Despite our abysmal first half, we got back into it when Bradford starting airing it out and making Washington defend more than 15 yards in front of the line of scrimmage... and we had it won!

It is frustratingly ironic that the defence, who've been the sole reason that we've able to stay in games for so long, cost us that game yesterday in the course of one drive.

I think the early 3 and outs that keep happening ultimately come back to bite the defence later on, happened yesterday and late in the Dallas game as well. They are completely gassed because the offence can't get any drives going early. Honestly we would have to be one of the worst first half teams in the league at the moment.

The offense had 1 possession in the 1st quarter (3 and out). The defense was on the field for the rest of it.

They made some great catches, and our receivers had some deflating drops.

We currently lead the league in drops (9)

Reasons to be optimistic:
Played 3 away games.
Only 1 game back in the division standings
Still have 12 games to be played.
Bradford is showing signs
Weak Division
Weak Schedule
Bradford is healthy
Kiko is not out for the season.

Reasons to be pessimistic.
Injuries are mounting especially in the oline.
0-2 in the division
Josh huff has been disappointing.

Excerpt from Kellys Press conference.

“The difference in this league right now, almost every game when you look up is a one-score game," he said. "We had a touchdown called back because we lined up wrong. That’s a difference in a football game. We missed an extra point, missed a field goal. That’s a difference in a football game. We allow a completion on a third down, that’s a difference in a football game. It’s just one play here or there and it’s a different story when we’re standing here today.

“We’ve lost three games by 15 points. So you hit two kicks and we’re sitting here 3-1 and everybody’s happy.”

Follow that logic, and the solution lies simply in execution. Start making a play here and a play there, and suddenly those close losses will turn into wins.

“It’s razor thin, so you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water and say OK, we’re going to change our offense, change our defense and change everything that we’re doing in our approach. We just need to settle down, take a deep breath and when we have an opportunity to make a play, we’ve gotta make a play,” said Kelly.

So I wanted to know whether you guys think the issues we are having are fixable going forward? I can't see how the line will improve, could they trade for someone like Kyle Long? Or is it too late to bring in someone new at this point? Also is it just me or are our receivers struggling to get open this year?

I think the drive killing drops are definitely fixable, and if we have longer drives, our line will perform better, as the defense will usually wear out more.
I think the fg kicking cant get much worse.
I don't think trading for a guy is a feasible option as it takes a while for a player to learn a foreign system. Building chemistry is also essential and also takes time.
Our receivers did not struggle to get open deep vs washington, the td bombs looked like warmup throws. Aghalor is a rookie, you would expect him to start slow, he nullified ertz's td by lining up wrong, and the fumble was also shit. Vs Dallas he had that killer opi penalty. Hopefully the catches he had are a sign of better things moving forward.

Detroit may have to give us an early 3rd round pick in this draft, given their current form.

Massive game this week, nobody expects us to win. Would be a great time to finally string together a decent performance on offence.

The team looks to be slowly coming together, good to see Murray get some yards & despite continued interceptions, some of Bradford's passing is a joy to watch. & the defence, just massive again.

As unlikely a win against the Panthers is, they are going to drop one sooner or later, might as well be this week. If & when the offence finally puts it together for a full game & with the way the D is playing, they'd be a threat against anyone.

& amazingly, 1st in the NFC East, go figure:drunk:

I thought the giants game was a huge win, falling to 0-3 in the division would have made it really hard to win the division title.
Weird how we struggled vs a team that ranks bad statistically vs the pass and were missing prince, yet we ran well vs a team that is statistically good vs the run, probably a reason why many stats are pretty useless.
It looks like chip is slowly introducing more plays into the offense, looked like sam was running some packaged plays on some quick hitches that started with play fake from shotgun.
The offensive line looked really dominant on the drive that finished with a Demarco TD run.
Panthers have played a bunch of spuds before their quality win on the weekend.

Really good article on Bradford:

I thought that was an encouraging loss, apart from the drops. We really miss maclin, he probably misses philly too.
moved the ball pretty well vs a very talented defense, without peters for most of the night.
front 7 struggled vs the run, but 2ndary played lights out.

Hopefully Peters injury is not too bad, and Alonso is able to make it back vs the cowboys in 2 weeks.
