Teams Philadelphia Eagles - The Gold Standard

McDaniels is a nut job & has bad hire vibes the likes of Gase written all over him.

Put a good staff around this Sirianni guy & we'll see so I refuse to be as initially sceptical of FO motives as I'm sure many fans are, with good reason mind you so no criticism there on my part.

& yes, 100% agree on the drafting, they keep ******* that up & this team goes nowhere (just like Howie).

True but poor use of Sanders on early downs probably added to that. So then it becomes who was responsible for most of those early play calls, Doug or Wentz changing the play?

Shitshow either way.

Yeah I saw that. Sounds like Sirianni isn't afraid to challenge his players & is a good schemer so maybe they can get Wentz back on track.

& with Josh McCown getting talked up in coaching circles, he could be a good fit as OC in Philly, maybe. Though I assume they'll want someone with more experience given the youngish HC hire.

The Eagles are considering Washington Football Team defensive backs coach Chris Harris for the team's open defensive coordinator position.
Harris, a longtime Bears safety before ending his career with the Jaguars, just finished his first year as Washington's defensive backs coach. The Football Team's secondary was a solid unit throughout the season, helped by the team's vicious defensive line. Harris has coached for the Bears and the Chargers, where he was credited with developing first-round pick Derwin James in one of the NFL's most dominant secondaries at the time. Harris would face the Football Team twice a season if he lands the Philadelphia gig.

NBC Philadelphia's John Clark reports Eagles assistant head coach Duce Staley has requested to be released from his contract.
Staley has been continually passed over for promotions by the Eagles and has seemingly grown tired of waiting. He was not interviewed for Philly's OC vacancy last year and after Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie named him as an HC candidate this year, the team passed on him for that job and their vacant OC job once again. Staley has been with the Eagles for a decade. Eagles players raved about Staley and he will be a hot name for teams to bring on as a staffer but maybe not as an OC. He reportedly has numerous to explore this offseason.

Eagles hired Colts passing game specialist Kevin Patullo as passing game coordinator.
The Eagles already nabbed Colts OC Nick Sirianni as their head coach and Colts DBs coach Jonathan Gannon as their new defensive coordinator. With the removal of Doug Pederson and his staff, the Eagles' approach is clearly to take export as much of the Colts staff as they can and recreate Indy's recent success on the east coast. The Colts finished 11th in passing yards per game and ninth in yards per attempt last year. If they are able to bring that level of success to Philly by plundering the Colts' staff, the switch from Pederson to Sirianni and company will go down as a success.

Eagles hired Colts DBs coach Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator.
It's always difficult to discern how much of a team's success lands on any coach's shoulder but Gannon's DB units have been wildly successful in recent years. He has been with the Colts for three seasons and Pro Football Focus has graded their coverage unit as an above-average group in all three years, peaking inside the top-10 this year. Gannon was also on staff as an assistant DBs coach with the Vikings from 2014 to 2017. He joins fellow Colts coach Nick Sirianni in Philly as part of a regrouping effort by the Eagles' management. Sirianni served as the Colts OC during the same timeframe as Gannon and now the two will attempt to right the ship in Philadelphia.

Fair enough for Duce to want out, he has bigger ambitions, hope he can fulfil them.

Sure, sink or swim somewhere else. That's fine.

I don't really understand the hype. He's never done much with us in terms of responsibility, and we're not very good at what he does do.

Looks like Lurie agrees with you.

Don't think anyone could really understand the use of RB's last season, but how much of that was on Duce.

Guess we'll find out shortly who the Colts RB coach is;)

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Eagles are expected to hire Shane Steichen as offensive coordinator.
Steichen coached alongside new Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni in LA, serving as the Chargers' interim offensive coordinator in 2019 before taking on the full-time role in 2020 and coaching Justin Herbert to one of the best rookie QB campaigns in league history. Now he'll be charged with fixing Carson Wentz and developing Jalen Hurts as the Eagles will answer questions all offseason about which quarterback will be handed the reins in 2021. The Chargers under Steichen ran the ball at a top-10 rate on first down even though they notched just 3.9 yards per tote on those plays. That commitment to establishing the run could be a boon for Miles Sanders' 2021 prospects.

Eagles fired QBs coach Press Taylor.
Taylor additionally served as the team's passing game coordinator last season. He steadily climbed Philadelphia's coaching hierarchy from 2013 on, ultimately coordinating the team's quarterbacks to league-lows in yards per attempt, completion rate, and sacks taken in his final year. The responsibilities of righting the ship (and Carson Wentz) will now fall to coach Nick Sirianni and OC Shane Steichen, the latter who had an immense hand in developing Justin Herbert just last year.
