No I mean his whinging and sookiness.
Tennis Australia had every right to. He refused to play Davis Cup.
As for winning it, yes he did have one good tie but its a pity he doesnt make a regular committment like the other players.
How do you know what went on behind the scenes?

It seems to me people can only support one of the two. Come on people, they both represent Australia, and they both deserve our support. If you hate Lleyton, or Scud, at least will them on to bring pride to this country.

You dont get it.

When Hewitt and Philippoussis and any other bloody player for that matter, goes out on the Tennis Circuit, they are playing for THEMSELVES.

They are not playing for their country, they are playing for their own pride and joy.

Davis Cup is where the national tennis is played, this is where you support Australia.

As far as Philippoussis being a sook etc, well how about we look at a few things.

First Pat Cash is full of ****. Look at Rudeski too, having a whinge about him aswell, he is just putting **** out to make a bit of money on his book.

Then there is the media that will jump on anything.

Now the FIRST TIME (this was 1998 I believe), Philippoussis refused to play Davis Cup because of the treatment he believed he was receiving from Australian Tennis, and they were treating him like ****, I wouldnt play either.

Then in 1999, he played and WON THE BLOODY THING for you people. Davis Cup, the NATIONAL refelection on tennis.
From memory, your beloved Hewitt lost both his matches, which Philippoussis won both of his to win the Cup for Australia.

Since then Philippoussis has been hampered by injuries, and the media have jumped on it.
Philippoussis last played at Wimbledon in 2000 (before this year) stuffing his knee up in the Quarter Final against Pete Sampras, where Pete admitted he was being flogged and was lucky to get out.

Since then it has been non-stop problems. Three knee operations.

Now is he being sooky and selfish on himself for missing Wimbledon?

He has gotten serious. Sold all his cars and snow boarding crap, and his house and I am pretty sure has moved his base back to Melbourne.

As for Hewitt, he does not show a professional attitude on or off count, and generally acts like a bratt. and from people that have met him, this is the same impression they get.

:)

He is very professional. You are still crucifying for mistakes he has made in the past and christ he was only 16 when he came into the spotlight, He has grown up and is changing his ways as evidenced by what he said about Henman after the match last night. We all make mistakes so dont continue crucifying him for things he did as a kid because he is growing up ok.
As for philipoussis he is a fair bit older and should act his age
"oh mean Mr Roche is sitting in Rafters box" - you idiot, he was rafters coach !!!!!
Hewitt has a heart 1000 times bigger than philipousssis

MY GOD!

I dont believe you just contradicted yourself there mate.

Read that over!

You say forget about Hewitts mistakes, because he has grown up or WHATEVER.

But its okay to live in Philippoussis's past by saying **** that happened 3-5 years ago.

Mate, you should re-think your arguement, because you just lost the little bit of credibility you had.

He lost nothing........he's never had any........

As for Lleyton I admire the passion he shows but still think he has a long way to go in terms of growing up.

Philippoussis has been through hell the last couple of years and it will be interesting to see if he can get that Grand Slam win before his career is over.

I agree with you Mase in that the only time any tennis player is playing for their country is in Davis Cup.......everything else is just for themselves.

Both Mark and Lleyton have a long way to go before earning the respect that our last great Tennis Champ had in Pat Rafter........he was as passionate as they come but then knew when to be humble at the same time - a true sign of a champion.

Throwing tantrums, making racist remarks last year at the US Open.

Racist remarks!!! Excuse me mate but he is innocent on that charge! I assume you are referring to the comment he made to the umpire during his match against the Afro-American James Blake?

Hewitt was having a go at the linesperson (also Afro American). Lleyton had once before in that match thought he'd copped a bad call from that line judge.

The 2nd time it happened I think he said "Have a look at the guy & see if you can see the similarity"

All the Hewitt haters assume he's suggesting Blake is getting preferential treatment from that line judge. When in fact he's actually pointing out to the umpire that it's the exact same line judge that gave him in his opinion a bad call earlier.

Huge difference! But very few people bothered to find out the facts.

All the Hewitt haters can Jam it because the kid's worked hard for what he's got & I hope he gets a lot more.

The Bloody Tall Poppy Syndrome rears it's ugly head once more.

C'MON LLEYTON!!!

No I didnt. Philipoussis is older than Hewitt so he should be all grown up but he isnt yet ! All you can knock Hewitt for is his enthusiasm on court yet Philipoussis was made to look the fool he is by having a go at someone who has done so much for australian tennis (roche), when roche was rafters coach anyway ! Explain that !

The crap went on with Philippousss in 1998 if I believe right.

That means he was 20 or 21 then.
Now isnt that about the age of Hewitt?

Everything since has been media bull****.
So how about you think about that.

My critisism of Hewitt has nothing to do with his on-court emotion, I just think he is a spoilt brat, and I think he loves himself. I hate people like that, and have the right to that opinion.

Yes it is, but Hewitt has grown up compared to when he broke on to the scene when he was 16, Philipoussis performs like that now !
A spoilt brat is someone who gets stuff given to them and carries on. Lleyton works hard for his rewards !!!!!!
Go Lleyton !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accept that Hewitt has grown up. He is nothing like he was so I think it is time people like you got off of his back and started praising him for representing his country and flying the flag for Australia proudly !

No. Answer the question.

You claim Philippoussis still acts like a child, so back up your claims.

You cant can you?

Oh 1 more thing.

Hewitt is representing himself, not Australia.

I'll add my bit.

One of my mates ive known since primary school used to train with him. When Lleyton burst onto the scene in January 97 i asked him what he thought of him etc and he said he was the most arrogant self indulged person hes ever spoken to or met. He still stands by that and im willing to believe him.

His on court demeanour has improved a lot in my opinion. Back in 98 or 99 whenever he'd lose a point let alone a match he would swear and carry on like an outright tool and he looked like nothing more than a talented spoilt brat.

Nowadays he has matured a lot thankfully. He doesnt carry on after losing points anymore and seems to act his age now. He still has his outbursts like thumping those flowers with his tennis racquet a few weeeks back (considering there were people right there he could of easily accidently clobbered one on the head). I for one dont call whacking flowers passion.

People say 'oh its just tall poppy syndrome' to which i say what a load of crap. Ive disliked Hewitt since i first saw him play...before he was succesful. Im sure many people feel the same.

you hypocrite ! I bet you hoped Philipoussis won, and he is more of a sook and smart*** ! Hewitt at least has passion for the country too

Go Lleyton, take it out and stick it up these morons who knock you in the process !

I cant ever remember Phillipoussis whacking flowers, accusing a linesman of cheating because both the linesman and opponent were black, calling the crowd a bunch of *******s, swearing after losing every point for a number of years or acting like his s**t dont stink.

The wuss?? and then you say Go Lleyton?

Lleyton is the weakest guy on the tour..just because he makes a fool out of himself everytime he hits a winner, and is hated by everyone on the tour, doesnt make him anything.

I wouldnt want to play for Australia either if the captains were those pricks...wasnt it Newk and Roach?? or whoever.

I'd rather make my millions that participate in a worthless cup like the Davis Cup, that nobody cares about.

Don't you people realise that he did NOT do that!!!

I think the quote was "You look at the guy(The linesman) & see if you see any similarity" Right?

That was the 2nd bad call that Linesman had given him, Hewitt wanted him removed after the first one & Lleyton was trying to prove his point with that, rather rash but DEFINITELY not racist statement.

Anyone who belives otherwise is obviously looking too hard for a chink in Hewitt's armour, hence my Tall Poppy reference earlier.

As for the rest of the stuff, he obviously did those things & if that ****es people off then fair enough. I haven't seen him do any of those things this year, so hopefully he's matured & quite rightly lifted his game in many respects.

He's a brilliant tennis player & a Wimbledon champion, a gutsy aussie bloke who's won me over despite his questionable behaviour in the past.

He coulda bloody worded it a LOT better as it definatly sounded like a racist remark. As in "he's the same guy who made the other bad call".
