How would you like it?

Just to drop dead or be killed instantly without any pain. I thought that was fairly obvious. No diseases, no searing pain from my legs or whatever being cut off etc, and THEN to die. Absolutely horrific.

That's interesting, Mandy. Why fish?

Sounds like dinner to me, and nothing more. :)

Long story. But considering there's not much happening on the boards tonight, I'll tell it and stuff anyone who doesn't want to hear it.

I had an dream when I was very young. I had this dream often. I'd walk into a room where one whole wall was a fish tank. But half the glass was missing. (the water didn't seem to spill out, you know how dreams go) I was mesmerised by this tank. And the fish. I'd be drawn towards the wall, and just as I was close enough to touch it, a goldfish would fly out of the tank, suction itself onto my temple and attempt to suck my brain out.

That was the beginning.

Years later, I was about 12 and in QLD and just learning how to slalom water-ski. One attempt, as I was floating in the water preparing myself to get up, a fish (approximately 12 feet long) jumped out of the water and hit me in the face. I was petrified. I realised that where there's one fish, there's many more. I frantically motioned for dad in the speedboat to GO! GO! GO! and was then dragged around the lake hanging onto the ski rope for dear life.

I hate fish. I hate them.

Yikes, that can be quite daunting, especially when you're trying to learn something new on water and all. :(

Waiter, cancel that order of fish and chips, please...

Give me a broom with a really, really, really long handle, and I MIGHT be able to get close enough to kill one...

It doesn't matter how long the handle is, they will still find a way of running down it! I speak from experience!

Also, as much as I hate them I never kill them.

Just looking at a large huntsman crawling up a wall just gives me the shivers. They look really evil, and I had a few bad experiences of them when I was a little kid.

When I was 8, I was helping the folks to clean the garage for a garage sale. The problem was, that there were hundereds of spiders underneath all those old cardboard boxes, pieces of furniture, old junk, etc. and these spiders were big . Anyways, I had this large huntsman crawl up my arm, shook my arm in an attempt to get rid of it, and it bit me. That hurt really badly... and I couldn't sleep that night, for fear that one may be in my bedroom.

I have had some experiences when I was younger, but those were cases where a spider either crawled up my arm, or fell from the ceiling and on to my head. I have dreaded spiders ever since. When I encounter a large spider, such as a huntsman, I keep my eyes on it, move very slowly to grab a heavy object, creep up to the spider and wham, no more spider. Arachnophobia is probably my worst fear... I really hate spiders...

The Deadly Blessing.

Anyone remember that movie?

No... never seen it.

Add two more things to my list of phobias...

Horror movies (Jen loves 'em, but I don't see the attraction about them. The more gruesome the better, she says, and that freaks me out)

and

Blood (just reminded myself of that this evening while watching "Blue Heelers")

god how i HATE spiders! In psych last year i was the only person in a class of 20 to be classed as arachnophobic, but i think that was mainly cos they put on a video of spiders and i actually had to leave the room cos i'd gone really pale and was shaking and making strange little noises trying not to scream...

Earlier this year, whilst i was staying up at my aunt's house in the blue mountains with my best friend, we (my friend, me and my aunt) came home after eating out and there was a large garden spider in my aunt's bedroom (very common up there, but cos my aunt's a pacifist, she won't get the pest controllers in). I freaked and they sent me into a corner of my aunt's living room to hide, except i nearly put my head on another spider on the wall and totally lost it. they had to spend 10minutes calming me down before totally inspecting my room and then locking me in there with a clean sock to chew on until they'd gotten rid of the other two. :( I didn't sleep so well that night...

The trick, I discovered last summer as Jen and I were moving into our new place, is that you approach them with plenty of caution. And hope to god that "plenty of caution" is more than enough!

You know, the average person swallows eight spiders in their lifetime while sleeping.:)

beat me to it nic... those darn spiders have pretty good aim. i once woke up and there was a tiny little spider hanging from its web that went all the way to the roof about an inch from my mouth.

i hate spiders, we get lots of huntsmen in out place, often with 4-5 legs. they just sit above a doorway waiting to fall. i want to kill them but nobody will let me and they take it outside. one day one of them is going to fall down my shirt and i will freak.

i love nothing more than heights though. love it!! love leaning over the edge of a cliff, love rope walking, abseiling, skydiving, you name it

i once had a dream that a ****roach ate through my skin just like on the x-files and i could see the bump making its way up my arm. frightening stuff.

What the hell are they then?:D

Ok well I learnt once that Huntsmen are not actually spiders, but part of another form of arachnid group closely related to spiders, though in actuality a little closer in genetic makeup to scorpions!

Having spruiked all that, I have been checking the web and can't find any evidence to back it up, so I'll dumb my comment down to hearsay from a source I can't remember!
