Gallery Photography thread - painting pictures with light

Remove this Banner Ad

I went back 5 or 6 pages and couldn't find a photography thread so created this thread for all sorts of pics: arty, B&W, landscapes, potraits, holiday snaps, funny pictures etc.

Also, if the collective expertise allows it, a place to ask questions about cameras, lenses etc.

Mods, if a thread exists then please merge.

Some photos from a recent trip to Wilson's Promontory National Park VIC, where photos take themselves.

They are absolutely stunning, tesla1962

This is my sort of thread. I've probably posted some of my best in the travel thread before, but no matter- I think a dedicated photography thread is a splendid idea. I'll post some of my best tonight.

I haven't done the kayak fishing yet but it looks like a lot of fun.

I'm not a big photography guy but these are some of my better one's while I was in NZ (around 09):

Doss i recognise NZ and maybe cradle mountain and some vic and New York? But where are the other places. I like the Mercury/quicksilver effect you have taking the water shots into the sun. Some classic framing on the sound (Milford?) photo :)

I've added the labels below the photos now. :)

Dead Horse Gap is a beautiful area. Often bloody cold too!

Anyway, I went for a walk tonight along the Maribyrnong and captured this at Essendon West, looking west, just with my iPhone:

i know it's the middle of summer but the tree makes it look like a late afternoon in winter

yep dead horse gap is cold! those photos were taken after sunrise one easter and i nearly froze my fingers off even then

iphone cameras are great these days, we have a post doc working on an image analysis project and she is using an iphone6 to take photos of grape bunches on the vine and using image analysis (and a few other tricks) to estimate berry number and average berry size

often when i travel for work i don't take my camera but i always take my phone, this is an iphone5 (unless it was an older phone) between bathurst and cowra

Been waiting for decent wi-fi to have a good squiz at this thread. Unfortunately, I only really make an effort to use the camera when we're travelling, so I've already posted most in that thread. Here are a couple of my personal favourites though:

Palawan, The Philippines.

Agra, India.

I've also been digging through old family photos lately and found some gems:
