Is there any proof of discussions taking place? Or is this just another made up story to get more click baits.

I must be old school but all this media attention (largely the media creating trade scenarios to increase click bait) is driving me mad. Trying to switch off until the last couple of days when there may be some concrete news.

It may have been a case of Collingwood asking the question "What do you want for that pick 1?' and hoping GC shoot themselves in the foot and say Chris Mayne.

GC are desperate to get good experienced players up there, so they may give that pick up for unders. If you don't ask you don't get.

Kinda selfish of Collingwood. They want to raid franchise clubs but heaven forbid they are asked to cough up a great player in return.

We helped GC relieve some salary cap pressure AND gave them dual premiership hero Brandon Ellis. The Pies need to realise it can't just be take take take. Sharing is caring.

Seems I’m one of the few who rates Treloar and actually really like the deal for Gold Coast if they managed to pull it off.

He’s not the most damaging player with his possessions, but he’s a link up player FFS. His role is to receive out of a stoppage and then run forward to give another option.

I'm with you. I rate him very highly and if i could get him with pick 1 i would do it...

GC wouldn’t give up pick one for Grundy let alone a good (but not great) mid.

They have an opportunity to draft 2 gun kids who happen to be best mates and likely grow together in the GC. Zero chance they would give one of them up.

If they do, I will shave the Pies emblem into my chest and walk naked from Sydney to the GC over Xmas.

Aside from the fact that Treloar would never agree, we still over rate draft picks somewhat, even if it is pick 1.

Here are the picks 1's from 1986 - 2014 (recent years too early to tell or compare with Treloar properly). Bolded are who I would definitely want over Treloar...

Leslie, Lounder, McDonald, Banik, Hooper, Hutton, Banfield, Gaspar, White, Waterhouse, Gardiner, Johnstone, Headland, Fraser, Riewoldt, Hodge, Goddard, Cooney, Deledio, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Watts, Scully, Swallow, Patton, Whitfield, Boyd, McCartin.

That's 3 number 1 picks (out of 29!) I've picked ahead of Treloar with Deledio and Goddard in the mix too. Even if it 5 or 6 out of 29, that's still less 20% chance of getting somwone better than Treloar.

Not as obvious as it seems.
I agree but would add Cooney, just, he did win a brownlow and was a bit of a gun

We gave Gold Coast their club champion and captain for picks 44 and 62.

St Kilda Goddard was much better than Treloar

giving up treloar for pick 1 would be like spinning the roulette wheel again after it has already hit black 4 times in a row. You have you winnings already, no need to spin again. You could win big, or you could lose it all. Don't be greedy, walk away.

And people wonder why Gold Coast are so terrible! With crap decisions like this they are prepared to make. Just a novelty/lifeline team for duds and retirees still clinging on to hope. Shut up shop and bring in a Tasmanian team, afl can make a truckload from selling Carrara

Gary Ablett says hi
( so do lots of players - they just don't talk about it )
No question, and when the football career is so short I guess why wouldn't you set yourself up. You might be miserable, although living on the Gold Coast sounds a little more appealing than Western Sydney, for example

Is there any proof of discussions taking place? ....

Given that his partner, Kim Ravaillion - who plays for and is contracted to Magpies netball - is expecting their first child in March next year, it would seem to be very unlikely.

hell yeah
I know if a competitor to my company offered me enough coin to set me up for life I would do it in a heartbeat.

In AFL for some reason we are too precious to even talk about it - let alone admit it.

Gets the handball receive out of the pack, then handballs to a stationary teammate who gets crunched but manages to give him the ball back. Then he will run, maybe take a bounce and proceed to kick it over another team mates head straight to the opposition

Rinse and repeat
