yep Moore or Black would be great. Moore looks an excellent prospect and probably the best mark for his size as well as got speed , excellent in one on ones, knows how to get the ball, Good all-round athleticsm, kicks goals and just a good all round footballer. I wonder if he will still be available at 12? In terms of best available and needs, he would definately fit our bill.

And as i have stated in many other threads, Aaron Black would be nice as well.

Talia seems most likely, he is also the one i want to get.

He does seem a bit clumsy but i think he has got good smarts and is not doing anything stupid. I have concerns about Carlisle and Black. both have been inconsistent and Carlisle is a risk at 197cm with growth still expected he may be too big for a kpp. I would love Jetta, tapscott, butcher or Melksham but i think only one of them will get to our pick

Either Talia or Sheppard

Sheppard- We dont realy have a quarter back, someone who can drive it out of defense, and a kicking out specialist. He is also very consistent and reliable.

Talia- He is a reliable and consistent performer. He will solidify our half backline and allow wait to move up forward. Out of all the talls he is the most AFL ready.

Personally i cant split the too, its hard to split such different players i guess.

I think O'Keefe will eventually be our quaterback/kickout specialist. We just need to get some games into him.

I am a huge fan of Moore's based on the videos i have seen, however i will be the first to admit this is not a fair indicaton of whole performances. By reports he suffers from consistency issues, nevertheless he plays like a KPF some times despite being too short, can quite easily gather possessions at will and certainly knows how to kick a goal. I think given a year or two will be another Ryan O'Keefe style power Half Forward-Midfielder

Moore is still a teenager and pretty slight for an 18 year old, so he's just a ball of putty for a club to mould into a footballer.

I'll be happy if Moore develops into a similar player to Rooke.

Moore might be a similar player to Andrew Walker if he has pace, agility and an 85 cm running leap.

And inconsistent skills.

From the little footage ive seen of each on Youtube, it was a toss up between Carlisle or Sheppard, because i think that Butcher will be long gone by pick 12, and that Melbourne will use pick 11 to snare Talia.

I think Carlisle is a better looking prospect than Black, although i am an expert in no way shape or form.

But, that being said, id be happy with Black if that's the way we went.

But do we want him? flashy outsider isn't one of our greatest needs to fill. However lucas is quality and has been talked about as a top 6 prospect going to sydney. Could we draft him and play him as a forward? Hes extremely quick off the mark and im not sure if he can take a grab or how accurate he is but in all reports he is mentioned to have the ability to play off the half forward. This is the area that i think carlton need to improve on the most, the ryan o'keefe type player; more so than the tall power forward. He could also potentially play as the porplezia type forward which we don't have either.

I know all this is a lot of 'ifs' but i just thaught i'd put the idea out there.

I really like Lucas but i don't think he could play permanent forward. He might spend some time down there like Murph, but he is a mid.

I also think he is being sold short when he gets called just an outside midfielder. He can win his own ball and will only get better at it if he can develop a bigger body.

Carlton have to draft a tall power forward in this years draft...My preference would be butcher or talia... butcher being a suberb athlete strong lead up forward and talia having following carlton his whole life would be almost a number 1 draftee to the CFC.if both of these 2 players are taken prior to pick 12 then the likes of panos and temal would be beneficial. The goose Matt McGuire could b good minus the injuries. As for later drafts Carlton should be looking at a medium sized lead up forward or a medium sized defender who can run and carry and kick well ( armfield Russel anderson cant hit targets under pressure)

I just went on to a few of the other clubs draft machine picks and i am going to be so annoyed if Melbourne take John Butcher pick 11. they have pick 1, 2 and 11 in the first round. They don't deserve to have pick number two and they especially don't deserve pick 11 even though we gave it to them for Brock mclean. I am glad we got Brock but I believe that we should have given melbourne a couple of our later picks or maybe our round 2 pick and a later pick. not that Brock mclean isn't worth it but he came to this club wanting to know that he is going to be happy and he is going to be happy if we get john butcher cause then we will have or will be close to having the best young developing forward line.

I agree with Tim S I am not happy to see fev go but i am glad carlton is probably going to be better in the long run because we will be able to find out who is good in our forward line and who is there to take off the pressure of our better forwards. Carlton needs a forward to add more pressure and we can be more unpredictable and hopefully we won't need to pick up a defender if we get matt maguire

I would love butcher or rohan. but lets get real they aint going to be around at pick 12. i agree with pete, daniel talia is the best tall in the draft behind butcher. he might still be around and could give extra cover down back allowing waite to play forward which i think we will have to do cause he is going to be a better option than any first year player. hopefully we can snare someone like tom hill, levi casboult or ben griffiths with 43.

Carlton needs a tall defender to play at CHB and a tall forward to increase our goal kicking options. Fev is not a loss. We have actually gained an unpredicatble forward line. Better than an obvious target.

For mine we should use pick 12 in the draft on Levi Casboult, Daniel Talia or Daniel Archer.

Casboult: Tall forward with fantastic overhead ability. Contested marking is a clear strength as is his ability to consistently win on-on-one contests. Over age player for Stingrays in 2009 whose clean finishing skills were obvious, booting 41.14 for the season. His 3.04 sec for the 20m was very good for tall player at Vic screening.

Talia: Versatile key position player who can play well at either end. Clean hands and great endurance for his size are strengths. Vic Metro U18 representative in 2009, winning All-Australian honours. From Assumption College.

Archer: Versatile tall whose strong hands and contested marking is a distinct strength. Attacks the ball ferociously in the air and works hard to get to as many marking contests as he can. His 2.98sec for 20m at the Vic screening session was impressive.

Either of these three would be great assets for the Carlton Football Club.

Butcher is a great young talent, however I would be surprised if he was still available at 12.

Matt Maguire would also be a valuable player if we don't have to give up much for him. If he can get his body right his presence would allow Waite to play as a forward or wing more often.

I think Carlton needs a medium forward. We have good smalls in Betts, Garlett and Yarran. If Kreuzer and Henderson end up being CHF and FF then I think we need to go after a medium size forward. I like the look of Gary Rohan from the Geelong Falcons. Looks to have pace, good hands, a good kick and also good defensive pressure. I think he could compliment the other forwards. I don't see to point in going after another tall in the forward line if we are going with what we've got, otherwise someone is going to get dropped and I would rather see someone slot in who will compliment the forward line not get in someone elses way. What does everyone think?

Okay, at first I thought mabye go after a medium forward but I just saw some vision of Daniel Talia, who is 194cm and can play at either end of the ground. Can take a good grab and is a straight kick. Does anyone know anything about him, could be very good at CHB?

Ben Cunnington looks like another good medium forward. Looks like the Falcons are developing more future stars. I think Cunnington, Rohan or Talia would all be good for Carlton.

I like the 22 with Black, but I think Melbourne might take the decision out of hands with pick 11 and get a full forward.

Moore or Lucas look a good complement to the athletic talls who will rotate through our forwardline.

They tick most of the boxes...Need, talent, athleticism, skill and list balance.

Drafting a KPP first is a ham fisted path to winning a flag if all you want is Talia or Black.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Controlling the ball getting hands on it first is how you win a flag.

Scarlett is Geelong's only elite tall...Riewoldt St Kilda's.

Mooney, Hawkins, Riewoldt and Koschitzke hardly touched the ball.

The flag was won and lost between the fifty metre arcs.

You need to have competitive tall targets inside fifty and a spread of goal kickers.

Not superstars like Fevola and Brown then daylight to your next goal scorer.

Your comments are spot-on, l think Tapscott is very impressive and looks to have elite skill level which l have not seen in some of others around our pick e.g Moore who looks a solid player, but does not appear to have anything in his game that was outstanding.

l believe if Talia is not there at 12, they will go with a Tapscott or if Lucas is there they will go with one of them, Carlisle does not look to me at top 12 pick, Black possibly but l suspect if the best available option is applied he may not fit that criteria.
