Re: *reaches for the popcorn*

An article in todays Age says that the Eagles are set to take Brad Sheppard at #7 and as a result Jetta will fall to Sydney at #14.

I hope we consider taking him at #12 - I'd love to see him burn it up down the wing at the G.

Would be happy with Moore or Jetta. There's something about Moore that I really like, and he looks like he wouldn't take long to be ready for senior footy. Would slot in on a forward flank very nicely, and looks a pretty tough and versatile operator.

Do not want Black or Talia. In fact, I'd be taking Carlisle before the two of them. At 196cm Carlisle really has the height to be a serious problem as a forward, and he possesses the skills and game sense of a much shorter player. Great hands also.

Something about Black scares me, and I really don't know what it is, but I'm getting a bit of a Daniel Schell vibe from watching his videos. Ex Freo and Crows tall forward who dominated the lower leagues but wasn't good enough at AFL level.

Having said all that, Black is now guaranteed to become an AFL gun, and we must draft him.

 Make up your mind SOAP . Thats.. one.. seriously.. confusing..post.

for me, best case scenario for pick 12 would be...

The PICK 12 Availability List:

1. Butcher*
2. Rohan*
3. Cunnington*
4. Talia
5. Black
6. Moore
7. Tapscott
8. Melksham
9. Lucas
10. Jetta

apologies to JM-P

(this is not a draft top 10 list)

Best "best available" Case Scenario (*this is highly unlikely i.e. the slider of the draft*) = Butcher
Worst "best available" Case Scenario = Jetta

Not a bad result, hey!

What does your AVAILABILITY LIST look like? and who is your BEST and WORST case scenario draftees?

What about Benjamin Griffiths???

Height: 198cm

Weight: 99kg

D.O.B: 17/9/91

Recruited from: Blackburn/Eastern Ranges

I have my doubts about Carlton supporters having the patience to wait for the Hyphen to put on the size needed to play AFL on a regular basis.

It's all about getting an immediate return for Fevola. :footy:

Doesn't look like first round material in those clips.

If Butcher slid and we didn't pick him up i'd want Hughes head on a stick.

Of course if butcher is still available, there will still be some 'nuffies' on this board who'd rather the club draft Jerry Lewis (Jetta) ...

If we managed to get Butcher, it would be as big a bargain as the Boston Celtics snapping up Paul Pierce at pick 10 in the NBA draft ten or so years ago now :)

James Sellar says hello. ;)

Butcher is one of the players we knocked to keep Hampson after Port chased his services using pick eight or nine.

celtic_pride has done it again. :)

Mate, you just don't know how these guys could adapt to AFL football. What if Butcher ended up like Sellar? And extremely highly rated junior that slid in the draft and is yet to show almost anything? And what if Jetta came onto the scene like Rioli and gave us an edge in next years finals series?

Just have faith in our recruiting, they'll take the player they rate highest.

And what if Lewis Jetta ends up as another hack like JON or Tambling ???

every draft pick, especially at no 12 comes with some kind of risk attached ???

Of course, but I'm not the one who said that people who want Jetta over Butcher are nuffies. I know there is a risk with anybody, if people want Jetta over Butcher, let them.

Recruiting isn't an exact science, and no player is guaranteed to make it in the AFL. You just have to back your judgement, and the fact that you have done everything possible to reduce the likelihood of a player not making it.

My preferences for pick 12 in no particular order are :-

Butcher
Talia
Black

Just under 5 hours to go now guys & gals :)

I will have to set the DVD recorder for tonight as I won't be home :(

Less than 3 hours to go now Aph. I can't believe you won't be there to see it live on Foxtel. I made certain I had nothing on tonight so I could see it live.

Actually I want Aaron Black, I doubt butcher would be available then, I am just annoyed with those fans who think the club shouldn't try and go for the best available young key foward in Black, who has a massive upside and potential and would be more valuable for the club going foward then Jetta.

Anyhow it does appear that if he is taken, the club will take Talia, so the argument about drafting Jetta appears to be academic anyway :)

Plans have changed now HBF
I will now be watching the draft live on Foxtel. :)

Just had to change dinner to a later time with the restaurant ;)

I may even have a chardonnay tonight :p
