There's only one!
The top 5 appear to be set in stone for this draft.
Here are a list of names that could/should/would come into calculations and slip up or down in this year's draft for pick 12.
Best available is the way to go IMHO.:thumbsu:;)

ill take john butcher any day over all the others but he will definitely be gone when our turn comes

by watching nearly all of the above people i really do rate talia at all he seemed to get alot of easy possession but he did show he has the smarts

i would rather go after aaron black or even panos

Talia looks very athletic and versatile, akin to Waite. However, i don't think he has the same stopping and contested power that a KPP should have. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though.

I don't think we'd hesitate to take Butcher if he was there, but i have a funny feeling we'll snag Black.

Either Talia or Sheppard

Sheppard- We dont realy have a quarter back, someone who can drive it out of defense, and a kicking out specialist. He is also very consistent and reliable.

Talia- He is a reliable and consistent performer. He will solidify our half backline and allow wait to move up forward. Out of all the talls he is the most AFL ready.

Personally i cant split the too, its hard to split such different players i guess.

The best available policy is ok if you're a bottom team and a weak list, but surely if like us you have the ruck and midfield pretty much covered you'd go for what you need i.e. tall forward??

Why didn't we pick Davis and Lisle instead of Yarran and Robinson if height is more important than talent?

Adelaide have needs as well, but will stick to picking the best available player.

Anything else would be too big a risk in my book.

What I'm saying is that I would rather go for a forward that we really need than a ruck or midfielder who has slightly more talent. Obviously this forward would have to be worthy of a pick around about the pick 12 or it's pointless. There's no use having 5 or 6 ruckmen and loads of mids if there's no-one to put the ball through the big sticks! :)

Thats the very reason Rhys Okeeffe was drafted. Club has huge raps on him. Expect him to be a regular senior player in 2011. I would say he might alos crack it for 1 or 2 this year. Certainly one to look out for in the NAB Cup.

Lewis Jetta thanks :thumbsu:

Seems to be a number of very good prospects that'll be there or there abouts for our first pick.

Jetta's pace and skill could be seriously useful on the wide expanses of the MCG.

Seeing him running on the wing delivering the ball to our forwards would be magnificent :thumbsu:

Magnificent posting once again Jeremias.
You are in scintillating form.

Many posters just register their vote and post their preference without giving any reason as to why. They probably have never seen them play, just read bigfooty reports.

but in stating that you think we shoudl pick Jetta because you think we will benefit from his ability to "run on the wing (and)deliver the ball to our forwards" highlights you know what you are talking about, and that you not only have an opinion but can justify it.

bigfooty is forever better for your posting.

Go J :thumbsu: :) :footy:

DISCLAIMER: I'm far from an expert.

But I'd go for Black, Carlisle or Tapscott. Butcher wont slip IMO- no chance. Would be best available on talent easily out of those players. Unsure where all the love has come for Talia- have been slightly unimpressed with what I've seen of him via Yotube. Slow decision making and plays off his man too much.

Well if you've seen 5 min of video on youtube i'm sure you have a wonderful idea how good a player he is.

Did you read my post? I clearly indicated my views are based on limited information and knowledge.

I have no problem with who the club picks, as long as it isnt the next Richard Tambling.

good point "99", but i feel talia will be a good get for down the track, because if he is able to play both ends he could become a good forward for us eventually . tapscott is built like he is ready to go straight away but he is`nt the tall that we need, so it becomes a matter of now, or waiting i guess.........just mo.:rolleyes:;)

The best bit about the whole process is you don't have to, we get to sit and speculate and envisage the future with no consequence on our preference. Whereas selectors from all clubs get hung out to dry for every wrong pick.

A few examples of what might be picks gone wrong:

- Ball v Hodge v Judd - (All great players, but i doubt St.Kilda would have said no to Judd and Ball trade this trade week)

- Thorpe V Selwood - (Enough has been said in recent weeks)

- Yarran v Rich - (I think most of us again have discussed this to death, love you Yazza :D )

- Tambling v Buddy - This one is my favourite by far, Richmond at their finest.

I strongly agree, but i dont think we can rely too heavily on him becoming our quarter back, he hasnt shown enough yet. I think sheppard is of a higher class. Sheppard is also brilliant against an opponant therefore i think o'keef on the flank and sheppard in the pocket with be extremely ideal, and would add strong defense along with great drive out of the back line.

Do we really need a key forward???

henderson, waite, kreuzer, Irish and a resting hamma/warnock is a better tall forward combo than 85% of other teams IMO.

I am a huge fan of Moore's based on the videos i have seen, however i will be the first to admit this is not a fair indicaton of whole performances. By reports he suffers from consistency issues, nevertheless he plays like a KPF some times despite being too short, can quite easily gather possessions at will and certainly knows how to kick a goal. I think given a year or two will be another Ryan O'Keefe style power Half Forward-Midfielder
