Now tell me we don't need an attacking backman who can deliver the ball and set up play?

A couple of my favourite players and our defenders give me a heart attack when they bring it out of the backline.

No i wont tell you we need another attacking running defender we have about 6 or 7 or them already.... apart from Jamo all our backmen are in this mould.

we need a key backman

This guy could go absolutely anywhere. Read on one of the PDs that we could draft him with Pick 43.
Definitely could do with that sort of player in our lineup.:thumbsu::)

I'll go for Black on the basis that for once we have to draft for needs first, over best available talent (which often turns out to be a crux 2-3 years down the track)

I have my doubts about Carlton supporters having the patience to wait for the Hyphen to put on the size needed to play AFL on a regular basis.

It's all about getting an immediate return for Fevola. :footy:

AFL Draft Machine Video and profile

Athletic and versatile player whose kicking skills and ability to read the play can hurt the opposition. Left-footer who provides plenty of run from defence. Vic Country U18 representative in 2009. 10.40mins for the 3kms at Draft Camp was impressive. Unable to do speed work as recovering from injury. Averaged 18 disposals in 13 matches for the Falcons with an efficiency rate of 71%. From Torquay FC.

2009 NAB AFL Draft Live Chat - Scott Clayton
Scott Clayton:
Thanks a lot for your questions guys.

Plenty of interest in my top 10 so I'll finish with the 15 players, in no particular order, who I think the top 10 will come from:

Jack Trengove, Tom Scully, Dustin Martin, Anthony Morabito, Ben Cunnington, Gary Rohan, Lewis Jetta, Jake Melksham, John Butcher, Andrew Moore, Daniel Talia, Aaron Black, Jasper McMillan-Pittard, Brad Sheppard and Kane Lucas.

They are all worthy top 10 selections. Good luck to all the boys hoping to get an opportunity on Thursday night.

Someone should have asked Clayton how he feels about the Gold Coast raping the existing clubs so he can enhance his reputation as a gun recruiter.

What a colossal waste of time.

100% with you on that. He committed to absolutely nothing! Gave open ended answers like 'come under strong consideration' and 'He'll be a very good pick up for somebody'. I realise it's all speculation at this point, but he didn't exactly 'put his rep on the line' the coward.

every year it seems like the heroes come out to post on near draft time alledging they went to school or played footy with some of the top draftees and dishing out the dirt/gossip on them ...

I would like to point out that Cheltenham is a long long way away from Peel in WA :)

Would we take Jetta if he's there

According to an Eagles fan...
heaps of late mail coming for brad sheppard to WC, eagles fans. can't decide whether to buy it or not... Emma Quayle on Twitter
Would we take a player like Jetta if he's available?

I wonder if Lucas might be this year's slider?

I don't see why not. A fast, skillful wingman would fit beautifully into our side.

I wonder if Lucas might be this year's slider?

*Waits for the throngs of shmucks that object to taking Lucas if he slides because he's not a KPP*

 how is this still on the board????
Nobody pushed this

It's a must to ensure something is seen.

I would love Jetta if he is around at 12. We have alot of professional, robotic midfielders already but someone with a turn of speed and ability to break the lines would complement them perfectly. Simmo does a decent job carrying the ball but doesn't have that x factor.

If it's a weak draft for talls, why would a potentially good AFL KPP slide to our pick after being a gun at 17?

So many clubs with a need for a tall have overlooked this KPP, yet they're a must get for Carlton purely because they can play forward or back.

Talent comes second.

James Sellar.

I like Lucas, he reminds me a little bit of a quick Kade Simpson.

He also has two first names which is awesome.

-There is no chance of Butcher sliding past Port, Melbourne and Carlton.
- Is JMP now the flavour of the month based on someone on BF with inside contacts, whilst he may be on the shortlist, l very much doubt Hughes would be revealing much to even his close contacts within for someone to go off and post this info on BF.
l am not convinced he fits either criteria of best available or a needs basis, and would be highly suprised if the Blues selected him.

Re: *reaches for the popcorn*

An article in todays Age says that the Eagles are set to take Brad Sheppard at #7 and as a result Jetta will fall to Sydney at #14.

I hope we consider taking him at #12 - I'd love to see him burn it up down the wing at the G.
