Pick 14

If he isn't a mobile forward, then I can't see him having a spot given that Hogan and Lobb are both ahead of Taberner and Cox as key forwards.
Agree. Hopefully, (all other boxes ticked) he gets the opportunity to try and prove himself in that role. That seems to be where he plays his best footy.

Yes. And we should get an insight to him being able to do that from his application to pre-season fitness. If he gets it together he will be very difficult in that role. I mean, a serious weapon. He can't just rely on talent. Living in hope here.

Over the years the Tigers have made some absolute howlers.
Nevertheless, our selection of Pitt ahead of Darling was imo our worst single drafting decision. I don't buy the notion at all that Pitt may have been something if it weren't for his health. The guy showed absolutely zilch, zero, nothing - a dud. Darling was already mauling opposition backmen in the wafl at 18yo. We swallowed the badboy image portrayed by all the eagles friendly media (just like all the clubs east of the nullarbor), got spooked and selected a kid that had some nice skills but little else.
Leigh Brown over Joel Corey was a stinger

I think we were moribitos knees away from a premiership in 2012-2015

I agree, just one star player can make the difference and winning a premiership cleans the slate of blame. If we had won one during that period would we be trawling over the past the same way Richmond supporters were before 2018.

Where would WC be if they hadn't have had the benefit of extra priority picks as a result of having those two 4 win seasons in 2008 and 2010 finishing second last and last. Shuey and Darling are end of 1st round priority pick selections for those cellar dweller seasons.

Over the last 10 years - Swift, Weedon, Stevens, Newman, McInnes, Smith, Karpany, Lamb, Partington- they're all dud 1st/ 2nd Round draft picks between 15-35 but they had those extra free throws to make a difference to their list. (Didn't even mention premiership star Masten).

Josh Simpson before Brodie Grundy is the worst selection in the recent times.

Sandi was in career best form at the time and Zac Clarke was a young gun in the making, even now we're fine for rucks. Grundy is a star but Darling was far worse given the KPF stocks outside of Pav

Completely agree. Another one that bothers me is Max Duffy over Tim Membrey. It's like we were allergic to key forwards come draft time.

Will we be looking at Jye Bolton in the draft?
Whats the mock on him that he hasn't made it?

At this stage, I'll be happy with either of these three

Liam Stocker
Riley-Collier Dawkins
Ian Hill

Really looking forward to the AFL media team getting off their arses and eventually getting the Draft Machine up and going.

To be fair, Pitts ability to tonk it 50m off either foot with precision could have been Mitchell like with time.

That's the shit that breaks lines and wins games
You could be right, but some people who saw the very limited number of games he played for us as a kid have assured me he was a spud. Apparently.

Not versatile and can't kick, poor mans Tom Mitchell. Might be for decent depth but otherwise nah.
Huh..... Can't kick?
Bolton is well worth a rookie spot. Pretty sure he'll get his well deserved chance this time around. I hope it's with Freo - even if as depth as you're saying.

Yeah even for a wafl inside mid he is a bad kick its one of the main reasons he has been overlooked for so long.

In case you need to be brought up to speed we have zero available rookie spots available. In total we will be running with 40 primary list (currently 36 + 4 ND spaces) and 4 rookie list (currently only Giro retained). The three remaining rookie list spots have been promised to Apeness, Hughes (both under contract) and Ryan Nyhuis. So no room for Bolton with Freo. We may be able to add Carter as a Cat-B rookie if he is overlooked by all in the ND and PSD’s. The other is Medhat who for the same reason could be added as cat-B rookie but I’m unsure if we have declared him as an academy nominee.

In saying this Bolton seems a good chance for a rookie spot somewhere prob at a club like Gold Coast, Carlton, St Kilda etc.

Maybe I'm a little biased being a Claremont supporter but I have always been more than happy when the ball is in Bolton's hands that we would retain possession after he disposed of it. Find it hard to believe there is a knock on him in that regard.

Ah ok. Must've missed the news on Nyhuis. Thought it was only Apeness and Hughes had the lifeline.

AFL have more of a say on team success than just us missing a star player. Tanking swept under the carpet, how many teams have played
finals at Geelong? Limiting games at the MCG.
Diluting the talent pool, a bye now before finals, it goes on and on. We have a great game ruined by the people who run it.

The administrators react to a media swell of attention from fans who cry out to do something, anything to "fix the game" during that middle period of the one hundred and ninety eight games in the regular season when it gets a bit boring.

I watched the 2002 grand final between Brisbane and Collingwood the other night and it was so much better viewing than the current game. There were few interchanges, which meant the best players stayed on the ground for the entire game. It also meant players weren't able to run end to end then come off for a spell, so the teams maintained structure.

Just seems like the current congestion would be such an easy thing to fix with 4 reserves and interchange only for blood rule or possible concussion.

The off-season is great for those games. Watched the 1985 Elimination final, Hawks v Dogs. Leigh Matthews went off the ground in the last quarter and guess what? He came back on!! Commentators couldn't belive it. A player left the ground and then came back on. What a revelation!

The other one and i think it was probably strategic in the way we ordered the picked because we knew Richmond were taking a midfielder, but geez if we genuinely rated Hase above Pav that says a bit about the guys in charge of recruitment at the time.
