Pick 14

There’s certainly going to be some solid names at 14 and names that fill a need.

Ian Hill fills a need. They’re all buy low in the draft but his value is very low right now. At the start of the year he was a top 5 prospect. His sliding isn’t exactly form related. More injuries.

WA, cousins play for Fremantle and fills the need. If he’s available at our first pick and we pick say Stocker or Butters I’ll be shocked and pissed.

Plus we would demonstrate we’re not learning.

If available my house says he goes to us. I’m just hoping no one else grabs him and confident there’s other like selections other clubs could make.

31 will be the real interesting pick. There’ll be a couple of sliders a couple of young WA types.

So excited by the draft and next year.

If we want Hill we should trade 14 to West Coast for 20 & 22. Hill has had a massive slide this year.

LOL if Eagles then use 14 on Hill!

But Eagles wouldn’t do that anyway as they only wanted to trade 20 and 22 to trade for Kelly.

Best we could hope for with trading down 14 would be 20 and 50 type of trade IMO.

UNLESS there’s a genuine massive slider that someone really wants and we don’t.

I still reckon Crows would do 16 and 21 for 14 and 31 to get in front of Ports pick 15

Maybe but I can also see Port trading 5 and 15 for 3 with Gold Coast or Adelaide using 16 to get higher than 14.
With 2,3 & 6, GC probably would look at that. 2 pick downgrade knowing Port going to take someone they maybe weren’t going to and they get another top 15 pick

Cal Twomey has us taking Hill at 14

Pick 14: It wasn't the best year for Ian Hill, but he remains one of the most talented players in the pool. Fremantle will look at him if he gets through to their selection. The local prospect is lightning quick, can carry the ball from end to end, and has the skill to match his cheeky play. The cousin of Dockers pair Stephen and Bradley Hill had his season cut short by shoulder surgery.

Around the mark: Liam Stocker, Chayce Jones, Jordan Clark

Just watched Stoker carefully in the TAC game.

I would be happy with him, composed with the ball and hard in the contest. Seems to have strong character as well going by the draft podcast.

That said, he suffers from the same issues as Tucker and Weller. Gets lost in no man's land too often and lacks instinct to read the play and find the footy. Only judging him on the one performance though so likely unfair.

I think Twomey is pretty much on the money. We take Clark, Hill if one is available

Twomey has Clark in the mix for about 6 clubs before us (including the Dogs at #7). There seems almost zero chance he will slide to us. And also a chance Hill gets taken before our pick - I think Geelong have been quite interested in him (@ #13) and they love taking indigenous lads and have no problem grabbing West Aussies.

I'd be happy with Hill but also think Stocker would be a superb pick. Fills a need as a big strong body in the contest, presents as a mature lad and many have spoken highly of his character. Pretty sure he was also out of the same football program as Andrew Brayshaw at Haileybury College.

If Clark and Hill are gone in the first 13, there will be some quality available for us that was touted to go earlier

That was before jelly.

Doubtful. Our first pick wouldn't be in demand and #14 we'd want to keep and use you'd think. We've done well to get a pick in every round but not really enough to climb up the order with any of our picks. Even if we were to I could see us doing it before the draft. Other than some possible movement in the top 10ish I think live trading might be a bit of a fizzer - will take time for clubs to learn how to best leverage it within their D&T strategies.
