Fair bit harder to call than 5 is, but who and what are we thinking would be the way to go?
Ian Hill? Jordan Clarke? Could Rozee slide?
Do we go after a midfielder now, KPD? Speed, Strength, Skills or workrate? Our squad looks a lot more balanced than it has in the past and maybe we go best available? I wouldn't mind a big bodied/powerful midfielder to really compliment Cerra + Brayshaw, but we still lack that mid sized pacey forward as well. Would we look at trying to trade up to ~10 with the live trading, perhaps we could offload a ruckman?

Pick 14 is a good pick. After the elite 8 has gone, pick 14(16) is in the next cluster of players.

My list of players in order after the elite 8 and Thomas from the Roos. Leaves 7 players.

1. Caldwell
2. Hately
3. I Hill
4. Clarke
5. Duursma
6. Stocker
7. O'Halloran

don't know a heap about the likely options but I still like the idea of Ian Hill

Definitely Ian Hill with #14. We need speedy and skilful smalls at the feet of our talls. Jay Clark will be gone by our pick imo.

Otherwise whoever is left of Caldwell, Stocker, Taylor or Sturt.

Hopefully we can upgrade #31 or #43 a bit. But probably need to be a bit careful with points.

Would like Xavier O'Halloran with our second pick. Otherwise Ely Smith or Jack Bytel.

Marlion Pickett with third pick.

Hill, O'Halloran, Pickett, Carter (Cat B), Medhat (Cat B) would be a great draft haul imo.

Hill should be a lock for me.

He was excellent last year when Rankine was impressing as an underager, but obviously didn't impress in the carnival this year due to suspension and playing in the forward 50, in a weaker WA side. Then he was injured from that point on, couldn't compete in the combine nor build any momentum in the WAFL colts/reserves.

No risk with him, probably the best/second best WA prospect in this draft, no doubt the most talented.

He's undersized, but he's perfect for our needs.

I’m not sure I want small forwards this early tbh.

Midfield depth is awful. You put a best 22 together and there’s only like 2-3 mids outside it. Our best 22 still includes a 33 year old Mundy who’ll play a lot of midfield next year as well.

A small forward and a back up key defender are probably required imo but they can wait until later.

Can't see us picking Clark, he can only play one position and it's one of strength for us

Collingwood added a super fast forward with pick #6 last year and look what happened. We need to be serious, an 18yo midfielder taken with #14 is going to take 2-4 years to have any impact in the middle at all. Stephenson has proven adding speed i50 can have a pretty big impact in just the 1st year.

Speed inside 50 is a critical need for us - if Ian Hill is best available (which he will be at #14, take him!). We can trade or get a free agent mid next year if necessary - Cogs will be a free agent, Kelly might change his mind on Freo, Swallow might want to come home, Jack Martin might want to come back to WA...

He has been exclusively at half back. We have lots of small to medium defenders.
Do you think he could transition into the MF with more experience , strength?

Tested pretty well in endurance?

Or maybe allow an existing HB to transition there?

Hately will be picked up by Adl at 13, Clark will go 10-12.

Hill it is.
Crows have pick 8 and Port 10. Really can’t see Hately falling to pick 13.

Crows need someone to replace Cameron. I Hill is the perfect replacement.

Honestly dont know but i think it makes more sense to grab a more proven mid. Jones is from tassie which is basically wa for afl purposes.

They just signed stengle from the tigers.

Glaring Holes

- Key forward (nahhh just kidding. Old habits, die hard)
- Midfielders
- Small forward
- Half back flanker (Shill didn't work there, Blakely will move to the midfield I suspect)
