Pick 14

I would love it if we snagged Hill. He makes perfect sense in terms of our needs and his association with the club.Given we also recruited Crowden and Giro I am a little less inclined to go with a super small, but with his skill factor and forward ability, Hill makes a compelling case. Chayce Jones has a lot to offer us as well with pace and disposal strengths, and sits around that part of the draft. Stoker and Valente look strong and ready to play.

But there are quite a few I would be happy with, and the Phantom drafters indicate that after the top 8 it is a pretty even and decent choice of players until around pick 30, so we are really well placed for options.

Collier-Dawkins is a 193cm inside mid that I'd love to get...just has the ability to free his hands.

Needs to grow into his frame but he'd be a nice piece to add to Brayshaw & Cerra.

if Jordan Clark is available at 14 you grab him. If not, I.Hill should most likely be there and will be a great addition.

I'd prefer Clark (if available) Valente or Stocker.

Hill just seems way too small for mine for the modern game. 175 cm and 64kg (?) at the combine. He won't get a game in the seniors until he puts on at least another 10 kg and for a small and skinny kid, that isn't an easy feat. Won't see him for 2 years.

Yep. 14 absolutely has to be a big bodied mid for mine, so this guy or Stocker and we are on our way to a decent list.

Definitely Ian Hill with #14. We need speedy and skilful smalls at the feet of our talls. Jay Clark will be gone by our pick imo.

Otherwise whoever is left of Caldwell, Stocker, Taylor or Sturt.

Hopefully we can upgrade #31 or #43 a bit. But probably need to be a bit careful with points.

Would like Xavier O'Halloran with our second pick. Otherwise Ely Smith or Jack Bytel.

Marlion Pickett with third pick.

Hill, O'Halloran, Pickett, Carter (Cat B), Medhat (Cat B) would be a great draft haul imo.

I think he may be reporting the draft instead :p
If we want a mid, I like Bytel.
If we want a forward, Hill seems the go.
I would prefer the player to not be a defender.
assuming the big 7 are all gone. I reckon Rozee might be the best in the draft over time.

He's 76kg according to Twomey's latest phantom draft.

Apparently heavier than Rozee and similar to Rankine.

I know nought about the prospects so...

1st choice .. a good inside mid
2nd choice.. a small fast forward ( Carter?)
3rd choice.. a good inside mid

I recon we go best available small forward unless a gun mid slides or we have a decent mature age pocket lined up for the 2nd or 3rd round. Rarely do they go earlier with the mids and talls taken unless they have assets to turn into a mid later. Our Forward line has been our biggest weakness so to get a quality small to go with our talls will be gold. Might take a few years to develop but it is rare for them not too. Stephenson was a skinny kid too but look at the impact he's had.

For my money it needs to be Hill at 14 - put another 5-7kg of muscle on that frame and he'd be in Rankine territory talent wise. I still reckon Hill is as talented as Rankine all round - it's only his slighter frame that's held him back

Hill's height isn't an issue long-term - if he can genuinely bulk up a bit he could easily play midfield in 2020.

I agree we need another quality inside mid (hopefully big bodied) but frankly I think Blakely / Cerra / Brayshaw / Tucker (dare I say Bennell too?) could step into Lachie's shoes a bit for next year, and potentially any of Logue / Hughes / North could join them in the midfield the year after. I also think Brady Grey is begging for a shot inside - he's got the strength, ferocity and drive to play inside mid - I just wonder if he has the tank and talent.

Sonny could also be freed up to play more midfield time if Switta / Coyler fill the small forward role, with Hill being added to the mix later.

Glaring Holes

- Key forward (nahhh just kidding. Old habits, die hard)
- Midfielders
- Small forward
- Half back flanker (Shill didn't work there, Blakely will move to the midfield I suspect)
We have good coverage at HBF. Carter will add to that depth.

Leaves small forwards and mids.

How does Hills size compare to giro?
