It drives me crazy those Journos. Let's just pretend we were super keen on Vince, Henderson and Mckernon (because we need just a few more 3rd tall forwards or something).
Why would we swap them for pick 2 when we could just get them individually for pick 20, compo pick and a rookie pick for the last guy or whatever. You'd want a bit more, we want a bit less but that would be around the Mark (again, this is if we actually wanted those particular players).
Sure draft picks can be overrated but why would we trade pick 2(!) when we can trade 20ish, 21ish and some scraps.
Young blokes not yet drafted don't say they don't want to go to this club that club, its a terrible look

That's usually the case and Aish is no different.
I was responding to someone who said he didn't want to come to us. And even though I've called bulldust on that post, if it were true we have pick 2. We can pick any other player bar who went at pick 1. So the guy that suggested we are desperate to trade 2 so we don't have to draft Aish is being illogical.

I dunno, what would you say is the value difference between picks 1 and 2 this year? It's more than it is most years, but it's not infinitely large. I was valuing Witts roughly as a mid/late first rounder himself, which I see as more than the dif between 1 & 2, so gave us an upgrade from 27 to 20 as steak knives. Which parts specifically do you think don't add up?
On the other hand, they may not part with pick 1 for anything less than an outrageous amount, seeing they didn't get Budwick.

I'd think MFC would do that. He fits the requirements.
Steele might struggle in his first season whilst the likes of Viney and Toump (and maybe Viv) get fully up to speed but after that I'd say he would be very valuable to our midfield and would have an instant effect if we also got in a few of the Daniel Crosses of the world to aid our depleted midfield. I think having someone like Sidebottom would also be a great benefit to Trengove too as it will take the pressure off him a bit more. That and an actual preseason.
Lastly I can see collingwood giving this deal some consideration. Though Sidebottom looks like he loves the pies and might not want to move to Melbourne for some crazy unreasonable reason
It's a fair trade and probably about the best we can do for pick 2 but I'm just not interested in Sidebottom.
How does he help you win with his high work rate but low speed accumulation game style in a team that's getting belted? Can he go inside and win the ball or take the game on?
He's completely opposite of a front runner as he puts in a heap of work but I'm not convinced he's a player who makes a bad side much better. Plus we already have Trengove as a slow paced but hard working accumulator mid. Sidebottom is better but giving up pick 2 for more of the same

I rate McKernan, and think he'll come good, but it could go either way.

Vince, Hendo, Lyons are all good players with variable playing futures and upsides; be it experience, youth, athleticism, talent, etc. I would hate for them all to be traded for low returns. They're not duds, but not stars (yet).
McKernan is probably the ugly duckling who will just grow up into a very ugly duck. Melbourne would be moronic to even consider him given their list IMO.

Got to love how people want to package up several average/fringe players for a high draft pick. It would be like us packaging up Mitch Brown, Shroder, T. Hunt and Trent West for pick 2. Not going to happen in a million years. Picks 1 and 2 will not be traded because clubs don't want to have to trade a superstar to get it. We'd have to deal Selwood to get one of those picks and that's obviously never going to happen
