Pick 2

Going to be curious to see the full details. I can see the benefit for the Giants (pick 2 in a draft where we're unlikely to use many picks, Tyson coming off a bad injury) but Melbourne's taking a big gamble unless they really don't rate the draft. If they'd gotten a couple of high picks out of it in addition to Tyson, I'd say it's fair. If they got one, it seems a bit "huh?".

Really?

A former pick 3 with 2 years under his belt and a top 10 pick this year?

Win for us and Win for GWS

Sorry i can't swallow that... Tyson has looked ordinary... Who cares if he's a former pick 3... You then went on to give them pick 2, 20.

So really it's Tyson and 9 for pick 2 and 20... just horrible IMO.

Tyson hasn't looked like he has the potential to be a star.. and that's what you want for pick 2

Pretty good deal by melbourne. But you hold all the cards when you start the trade period with a high draft pick.

Until Rockliff, Shuey, Sloane and more reject you because you're a shambles.

I'm not sure what to make of it either but pick 20 in this draft was probably looking at a questionable type. Pick 9 gets us a midfielder who might be a little below the top bracket but if you don't rate Aish you can make a case that whoever is there at 2 might be just as good as who is there at 9. It's that draft selection that becomes important.

If there was a standout Trent Cotchin at 2 then I'd be dirty on the club. But every thing I've read and seen about this draft batch is there's at least 5 maybe 10 who look pretty similar after Boyd.

And you say Tyson hasn't done much but review his numbers and play for 2012 and it was pretty handy. Forget about 2013 not many young players do anything with no preseason and 6 months out - see Garry Rohan etc even look at how much Murphy has struggled post injuries the last 2 years.

Left footer, big body (and will fill out to decent body and height) mid, there's plenty to work with if you have faith in your coaching department.

I'd also say review the careers of the top midfielders in the game - Ryan Griffen, Ablett, Jobe Watson, Hodge, Mitchell, Stevie J, Cotchin, Dangerfield. None of those were stars in their first 2 years. There's a few prodigal talents - Selwood, Fyfe, Judd but more than most started like every other kid

The kid has played 13 games...did his knee last pre season.

I thought his first season was pretty good. Dont think it will turn out as bad as you may think but only time will tell.

Demons offload pick 2. Well we told you. Tyson big gamble, as you said played 13 games and done his knee risky.

Deal's a bit of a risk, but I've heard there's not a lot of difference between picks 2 and 9 in this draft, and Tyson was taken at #3 in his draft. Could pay big dividends for Melbourne.

Might be weakened slightly if the Sylvia compo is a 3rd rather than a 2nd rounder.

Kudos to you on this call!

It is a risk but I guess we needed to take a gamble.

He hasn't played a lot of games but was considered to be a very talented kid back in his draft.

Pick 9 is the ticket here, I am happy we still end up with a top 10 pick.

Obviously it's a bit if a risk because we don't know how dyson will turn out, especially considering his knee. But on the whole I say a win for the demons

To be fair if Shiel, Cameron, Treloar (and Mitchell father son) were in the draft Tyson would have been drafted a bit lower.

I still think it's a good deal for you guys.

Interesting logic. I going to be completely unbiased. I really like the deal based on a few assumptions and looking at both your deals combined.

Tyson is a risk, but he has two years in the system and dominated junior football, he is now ready to shine. Michie big bodied hard inside mid thats underrated.

If you make the assumption you are going to get the player you want a 9 - which I think is a fair assumption because you would not have done the deal otherwise.

Then when you break it down.

Pick 9 gets you the same player as 2. You have got Tyson for pick 20 and Michie for free. So on that basis I really like the deal for you blokes.

All the best.

Thank-you for not be a troll unlike quite a few of the other Demon posters on this thread.
