Melbourne (and GWS) need to be realistic and stop going after the likes of Sloane, Steven, Rockliff, Fyfe etc.
They are targeting them because they are guns and are proven players who we all expect to improve, the right age early 20's, and appear to be popular and leaders of their clubs...which is exactly why there isnt a chance in hell any of those clubs would trade them for a draft pick who could end up being nothing.

Mitch Duncan plus Geelong 1st and change
Don't think Carlton has any midfielders worth pick 2 unless they want Brock back

Duncan plus Geelongs 1st could be around the mark but again, I dont think Geelong supporters would go for it.

While the offer proposed would never happen, to say that they are spud players is just utterly rediculous.
Henderson alone would get an early 2nd round pick (between 20-25)

Ill agree that Mackay has had his chances and has proven he's not going to be a gun, but hes a solid AFL standard player, and Kerridge is young and dont really know yet what hes going to be like.
Once again I totally agree that these players wouldnt get #2 because really it doesnt suit Adelaide to lose 3 best 22 players and it definitely doesnt suit melbourne to have the best of the players being outside the required age bracket for them.

He loves it, I doubt the club would give up the best rookie in the country (yes I rate him ahead of JOM)
Ok so I probably went over the top in my post.
BUT
When would a team ever trade a single pick for 4 or 5 players? Theyre not going to give up 5 spots on their list. Also the top 3 pick gives a team the chance to pick up a marquee player like a Naitanui, Buddy, Judd, Ablett, O'Meara etc. This needs to be factored in as well, especially when trading with a team like Melbourne who are cryign out for such a player.
They are not going to give away a possible franchise player, as well as 4 or 5 list spots for a bunch of ok to above average players.
My post was more an angry reaction to a ridiculous trade suggestion

I mean it's a win if he wants to come back to Victoria as pick two is as good as you'll get (picks wise).
Draft picks are massively overrated. Luke Shuey is the kind of player you want to draft with pick two, not trade for it.
