Cheers, I just heard that. I think the premise still serves. Trade out a young Shuey/Darling for pick #2 then replace him with a free agent and pick a potential top ten AFL player with that pick.

Why would we trade out a bloke who doesn't want to go?

What are the chances of Aish being better than Shuey?

If either he or Gaff have a desire to go home - then sure, manufacture a good deal. But forcing a bloke against his will to secure a pick and a player who is only 50:50 to be better doesn't make sense.

You can't force a guy into a trade anyway, it was more of a win win for each party. A bottom club might really want a mature mid still with most of his career to go and might be willing to put some big dollars up.

That's all. It would be like us trading Mundy to a Melbourne club a pick around 10, replacing him with a free agent and drafting Marsh to fill the hole.

The value of Pick 2 in terms of a draft pick and what it can yield isn't that great. Aish & Scharenberg are fine prospects but they don't scream out like Boyd does.

They have kids, they don't need 1 more but guys like Henderson, Douglas etc could make a real difference.

That's true but if we want guys like Hendo (which we wouldn't as he's a HBF) or Douglas, we'd be able to get them with our other picks, rather than pick 2.

I seriously can't see a WC offering a Shuey or Brisbane a Rockliff for Pick 2. This is a very weak draft apart from Boyd.

Ok, apart from posting some derisory pic which IMO reflects more on your own dickheadedness than anything else, care to explain why that suggestion is so laughable?

IT IS "highly likely" Melbourne will trade its pick No.2 at the upcoming NAB AFL Draft, according to the club's football manager Josh Mahoney.
Speaking to AFL.com.au's Gillette Trade Radio, Mahoney said the Demons wanted at least two and even three mature midfielders.
Having taken the likes of Jack Viney and Jimmy Toumpas at last year's draft and with young key forward Jesse Hogan set to debut next year, Mahoney said the Demons were after a player who had been in the system for a few years, but who still had "eight to 10 years" of footy left in them.
He said a deal for the early pick would likely include a player as well as draft picks.
"I think it's highly likely that it will be [traded]," Mahoney said of the second overall pick.
"We've got a lot of young talent already in our footy club and if the ability is to add an experienced person into our footy club well that's a big advantage for us right now.
"If we could add two to three experience midfielders ... they can come into the side and play alongside the already group of young talent we've got, that would be a successful period for us."

Pick 2 for Armitage and #22. Then send #22 to Essendon for David Myers.

Armitage a former pick 9 (2006 draft) who is 25. In 2013 averaged top 20 for tackles per game (just above David Mundy).
Myers a former pick 6 (2007 draft) who is 24 and about to enter his prime.

Would seem to almost exactly match the criteria set out above by Mahoney.
