how about Croad and Mcpharlin and we take back Croad in a few years, whilst we draft Hodge...........ooops wrong year, my mistake![]()
Well they did it again a few years later with Tarrant, so might be able to stooge Freo again at some stage.

Adelaide like Aish, Sloane is gettable for the right price imo.
Sloane's not going anywhere. There'd be a riot if he got traded. Same goes for Crouch. (and Danger, and Talia).
Bottom line, we won't be trading for pick 2.

But the question is, which club will put up a better mid than that? IMO only a Vic at an interstate club who wants to come home. Eg. Sloane or Selwood. Two problems with that... probably neither will want to leave their clubs, and Melbourne would only get one and not the two hard-bodied inside mids Mahoney has said the Dees are after.Armitage and 22 won't cut it. Would require a better quality midfielder in that age bracket and the saints aren't going to trade Steven. Pick 2 won't make it to the saints unless something crazy happens.

Buddy still might go to GWS if AFL don't let Sydney deal happen, and then GWS either trade pick 1, or don't pick Boyd at pick 1, so that would completely change the context of pick 2! Boyd instead of Aish (assuming GWS pick Aish at 1)
Better to trade Dangerfield than lose him via FA next year.
We don't have to trade 2 though, we could get a player of similar ability to Armo with our second rounder almost. We're not going to trade pick 2 to the highest bidder if the bid is rubbish. But the question is, which club will put up a better mid than that? GWS don't want buddy anymore, they feel completely led on and have already upped Mumfords deal because of Buddy going to Sydney.
He just re-signed for a further 2 years with the crows.
He loves it, I doubt the club would give up the best rookie in the country (yes I rate him ahead of JOM)
BUT if it did, and GWS took Aish at pick 1, would you take Boyd at pick 2?
There is an ok chance Buddy might not go to Sydney, and I doubt Hawks would like to him stay now
Carlton should go for Mumford so then he can play forward and ruck with Kruezer
I realise that, but my point is that Mahoney has stated his wish for mature hard-bodied mids. That is exactly what Armitage is. Armitage is a decent quality B grade footballer IMO. He has been part of the leadership group but his choices have been questioned when he was upbraided recently for planning an end of year trip with Chips and Dusty. My suggestion IMO is not 'rubbish', but given what your own list manager has stated, might actually go some way to meeting that desire. We don't have to trade 2 though, we could get a player of similar ability to Armo with our second rounder almost. Of course we're going to disagree on this.
Wot? He's already gone to GWS and they have Warnock and Hampson (for now) too.Carlton should go for Mumford so then he can play forward and ruck with Kruezer
If we just want 2 hard bodied mids, we'll get Cross and Chappie and keep pick 2. Saints need greater pure quality in the midfield as we are losing Montagna, Dal Santo and Hayes in the next few years. We probably do need the grunt that Armo provides too (Saints would not want to lose Armitage for a 2nd round pick, but might be tempted by #2 or an upgrade of our #3). Melbourne have some young quality mids in Toumpas, Trengove, Viney but only have Nathan Jones as a quality mature body.

We'll struggle to pay the minimum cap if we don't land someone decent. Might have to front load even more contracts.Seems like th epick will be shpped around , don't know if there will be any takers. Possibly Melbourne downgrade to another 1st round pick and gain a player. Not sure who though. Needs to be a quality mid. With Sylvia leaving the cap space opens up even more.
