O'Meara does all those things with far better kicking skills than Judd. He is obviously well ahead of Crouch at this stage.

The stats say otherwise re: obviously well ahead.

if pick 2 is on the table, and if the rumours of Colyer & Myers to melbourne are true, then im guessing this is the deal. which leads me to believe the latter of the two is not true.

Lets face it if O'Meara, Crouch, Hogan and Martin could not pull stars out of clubs, Pick #2 from a draft where Hogan and Martin have already been taken out, this pick is not going to get any star out of a club.

best option is package a couple of the Lion players up, Longer and ....ect.

I don't think that the club is expecting to get a 'star', or at least I'm not. What I hope for is an emerging under 23 year old.

But once again we're after midfielders, not sure how many times we have to say this before it sinks in...

Lewis+savage for pick 2 would be close. Melbourne need anothern midfield leader and borderline AA player. someone ultra professional and will give them 6 good years. Myers is jot that. his absolute ceiling is good player not potential match winner

How old is Lewis? I rate him very highly, he'd add a lot to our team. His age would be the only issue and perhaps swap Savage with someone else.

Ruck is not a great strength at Demon land at the moment so this could be a really good deal.

The problem is they have too many rucks that are meh imo. I can actually see a fit Mitch Clark become the no 1 ruck and resting fwd with Hogan and Dawes the 2 keys. So in a way they don't need another ruck in the wings as they already have another 3 I think.

Disagree. Max Gawn is still 21, doesn't even turn 22 until December and has had to come back from 2 knee reco's (which is a concern but also highlights his development) and a serious hamstring injury. When in the VFL he dominates with goals and hit outs. He held his own against the 2 from Sydney and in most other games. Only really played badly in a last quarter when Minson started to really belt him around on a wet night but again was right in it for 3/4s. Gawn has great potential and if he gets through his first preseason I think you'll start to see it.

Jamar is practically finished but can be reasonable depth if his body holds up through preseason and Spencer is very meh but is also only 23 and 204cm and can ruck just offers nothing around the ground, he's not the worst depth in the world.

I think Clark will be the resting ruck but might get eased back into that role until his body shows he can do it. Then he might be like Hale from the hawks. Max Gawn shares more than just a first name with Max Bailey, they have quite a few similarities.

I think we'd be keen on a project player to replace Jamar and be better than Spencer in the draft but wouldn't be keen on a trade.

Just because you havent seen Crouch play....you've got no idea.
Your original premise is that O'Meara is streets ahead of Crouch, which is plain rubbish.

Doesnt matter if your not the only one (Crows supporters albeit anyway), there are plenty of idiots in the world. When did I even use the word gap? I said that O'Meara is a better player and to add to that he will become a better player because he has athleticism, football nous and skills beyond Crouch therefore he has a higher ceiling.

Crouch will be a magnificent midfielder but theres a difference between who can become elite and who can become the best. Thats not to say O'Meara will but he definitely could be the best player in the comp in a few years.

There is no argument to the contrary so just bottle up your opinion and bump this thread in a few years if I am proven wrong. I wont hold my breath.

The demons need to realise pick 2 will not get a core A grade midfield player from another club for 2 reasons.

He would be worth more than that pick to his current club.

The player would want to go to a rebuilding club.

Example: Pick 2 won't cut it with any of these
Swan/pendle/Beams/steelbum
Cotchin/Dids
Danger/sloane/Douglas
Watson/Heppell/Zaha
Selwood/bartel
Fyfe/barlow/Mundy

Like with the Rockcliff rumour, if he wants to go to Melbourne the lions would talk to you first but if you approach them about Rockcliff for pick 2 they would laugh you off.
