Pies might consider trading picks 9 (if we get it) and 10 for pick 2.
Is trading picks for picks legal? I thought a player had to be involved.

I think so, unless something's changed. I remember Port trying to trade their 8 & 9 for 2, and Sydney trying to trade 6 &13 for 3 in the 2009 draft. Is trading picks for picks legal? I thought a player had to be involved.

As long as his name isn't Craig BirdWould Melbourne fans be happy with one of our top 10 players, a midfielder in his early twenties with consecutive top 10 finishes in the B&F, for pick 2?

Not unless it was the 4 mentioned previously or Luke Parker + steak knives. A big no to Craig Bird.Would Melbourne fans be happy with one of our top 10 players, a midfielder in his early twenties with consecutive top 10 finishes in the B&F, for pick 2?
A Bird in hand is NOT worth pick 2 in a trade!Damn it, that sales pitch was close to flawless
Perris is locked in to Sydney as a rookie pick, tight bastards got him for cheap and I don't know what value Spencer or Jamar would have for Sydney. Jamar would be ok depth for Pyke but only for 2 years max. Spencer is one of those baby giraffes who could be ok or could be out of the system in a year.Think a deal with Sydney for pick 2 is likely if it involved:-
1. 1 or 2 Players (Still trying to figure out which players might be involved)
2. Pick 14 (Syd)
3. Lloyd Perris - Draft selection expected to be around 20 to 30. Roo's has already talked to him.
Sydney lost Mumford, so Melbourne may throw in one of our rucks.
That would be draft tamperingPicks can absolutely be traded for other picks.
Melbourne, you are more than welcome to trade pick 2 to West Coast for pick 6.

On the Swans board Nick Smith is being mentioned as part of a pick 2 trade but I really hope we do not lose Nick Smith as he is one of the Swans best players at doing his job and doing it very well every single week.
No he wouldn't. He'd join a very solid leadership group, but the problem isn't our young leaders but they dont have any able bodies willing to follow. He's not worth pick 2 but he'd be the walk in captain at Melbourne if they got him.
Can't see Swans parting with players for pick 2, premiership window is now. Aish (or whoever else) isn't going to help that. I reckon it's Melbourne/Roos trying to tempt us rather than the other way around
Having said that, I didn't see us taking Buddy
I would think our No5 pick would be on the table for a Quality player from the Swans, running half back perhaps
Just like when he claimed Patton was having a tour of the saints last week (Patton was out of the country)? Ox has poor sources. For what its worth David Schwarz has claimed that Dylan Shiel will be traded to melbourne. The Ox is generally pretty good with these things. However, this is of course still just rumour.
