Melbourne get Hogan next year who is better than Boyd. Melbourne will also be the big surprise next season and not because of Roos. Melbourne go through next year with minimal injuries they win 10 games. Snip ...

At least someone gets it. Of course, that's if the stars align, but by the law of averages, sooner or later we should get all the players we need on the park together. Fingers crossed.

Now, just to get some decent mids ...

The Demons on the other hand are struggling to attract players and to a lesser extent senior coaches.

I believe you mean assistant coaches - we already attracted the best senior coach available. On top of that, we've already signed up 3 assistants, with others on the way (George Stone).

As for players, considering that only a handful of clubs have finalised trades, hard to see that we're off the pace there either.

October 25th is still a way off, as is November 13 (end of FA).

He's just trolling mate

I can't because the framework you started with is impossible to work with and as others have stated, Mumford is going to GWS already for nothing.

I just don't get why those clubs would exchange draft picks for the sake of it, there are no players attached either which makes them look like trade deals for the sake of doing a trade deal.

How much would you like to bet that Mumford is traded to GWS and not held over until the PSD.

3 years ago the cats swapped a first round pick for 2 2nd round picks.

If the pies trade #10 or 11 for Adams perhaps we could trade #2 to GWS for their #9 & say #10.

Think its clear now these compo picks are holding everything up.

Brings us into the picture if Collingwood want Hendo as a replacement for Shaw. ;)

Brings us into the picture if Demons want Vince and Lyons to add to their midfield. ;)

Would it not make sense for the AFL to tell the clubs the compo picks pretty much immediately? If a club is 50/50 on whether or not to match a FA offer, the level of compensation may help sway them one way or another. It'd also allow other trades to progress.

Melbourne last year was expecting a certain level of compensation for Rivers and Moloney but got given way less. That resulted in some last-minute trades being needed.

Thing is though, the compensation is dependent on a club's overall FA activity, not individual player movements. So Hawthorn's compensation for Buddy isn't just determined by him moving, but also players Hawthorn might recruit as free agents which would dilute their Buddy compo. Hence the AFL couldn't know what compo they'll get until much later.

Dylan Addison, Christian Howard, Jason Tutt, Ayce Cordy, Tom Williams and Shaun Higgins for pick 2 sounds fair to me; Melbourne might have to throw in Jesse Hogan as a sweetener considering how many players they'll be getting.

Why didn't you just say we'll trade Williamstown for Hogan and pick 2.

I agree but why 2 weeks and not 1? Last week it was Heath Shaw holding everything up. Now, these compo picks are holding everything up. Never the less think your boys are ready to kiss pick 2 goodbye. Still think its heading to Sydney ( or Western Sydney to be more precise ) one way or another. Not that its all bad you are going to have a very interesting wildcard midfield.

They need to take a good look at the way this trade month is set out because it clearly doesn't work.
I'm happy for pick 2 to head to GWS as long as what we get back is fair and reasonable.

Trade month is set up this way to maximise AFL publicity. "Fair and reasonable" depending on what spin you want to believe. Geez thats a bit of a backtrack from it must be quality not quantity. All said and done I still dont believe you will have it on draft day.

Latest rumour from about 4 different sources (from chilli to a bernaise)

GWS are keen on pick 2 as they want Scharenberg.

Actually it's all over twitter and demonland.com :)

GWS must be looking at a Pick 2 for
- Pick 9 and Dom Tyson OR Bugg
- A straight swap for Dylan Shiel if despite contract he's super keen to come home and reunite his romance with Chocko's daughter

Not much else I can think of at the moment

Fair and reasonable would be a player that is quality. Seems as though you are right though...plenty of talk about GWS being keen on our pick 2.

I would think both those deals are fair. I'm not great with GWS players but I would guess from their respective draft positions, GWS might want some steak knives if it was Tyson instead of Bugg?

Could GWS possibly get Scharanberg with pick 3 (from St Kilda)? Is it likely Melbourne would get him with 2, or could GWS take the risk and hope Aish/Billings/Kelly etc are picked up at 2?

If they want Scharenberg, they're not going to take the risk of hoping he doesn't get taken at 2, since StK will want just as much for 3 (if not more) than we do for 2.
