Heard Josh Mahoney on trade radio saying that pick 2 was "highly likely" (thanks Damian Barrett) to be traded. Given that the Crows want to get back into the first round of the draft, what would we have to give up to get that?

What are people's thoughts on trading Henderson, Douglas, Kerridge and Mackay (or combination of) back to Vic for pick 2? IMO, I think only Douglas is a best 22 player and I'd rather an 18 year old Scharenberg/Aish/Matt Crouch than a 26 year old Douglas and Henderson. We also need one more gun midfielder to push for a flag and pick 2 would deliver us this. This also benefits Melbourne as it would give them 4 best 22 players and a chance to be more competitive from round one next year, rather than just adding one player to their lineup through the draft.

What are people's thoughts on this scenario if it happened?

None of those players, or any combination thereof, would be enough to get pick #2. To get that we'd have to give up Dangerfield, Sloane or Crouch.

Forget about it. It's a pipe dream that's not going to happen.

Not only that, they would also be looking for a downgrade in picks, so they would still want a late first/early second rounder in any deal, which we don't have -

i.e Sloane and Pick 18 for Pick 2

U guys should look at the 10-20 mark which is much more realistic and almost as fruitful. For example if u guys offered up Douglas/Hendo for our pick 10 I'd probably take it. That would give u a good chance to pick up someone like Crouch still

Not only that, but picks are worth exponentially more. It's not like packaging five players would suddenly make it worthwhile. Pick 2 is worth more than ten mediocre players. You can only gain access to pick 2 without including a top ten pick, or a player of that value, along with your steak knives.

You can't simply trade a whole box full of steak knives. Nobody's interested in that.

it was mentioned in a news article - I forget where - that we had enquired about pick 2 with a view to using it to draft Aish but Melbourne wanted Sloane or Crouch. that ain't gonna happen.

Seeing threads like this reminds me of the Franchise mode on Madden NFL where you try and throw a whole heap of random players/picks together hoping to dupe the CPU into trading away the number 1 pick.

As others have said, the reality is that the price of pick 1 or 2 is so high that only someone along the lines of Dangerfield would come close to the asking price.
