I'd agree with that. North or Saints I reckon.

Not out of the question but needs a few dominoes to fall our way. If runours are true its probably down to north dogs essendon or us. Would need a good player to fall to 11 (for example north to take simpkin or brodie) and then marshall to be there at 18 and good players at 20 and 23 so those clubs go that way-for example if SPP or similar are there. I would say it's a low chance but it's not out of the question.

How do you assess our chances of calling "Ridley" now P_O?

Its sounding more likely he will be there but honestly i think the draft is pretty open from about pick 12 onwards its hard to call.

He is an elite runner but i dont think we need another inside mid and i am worried about guys not getting opportunities and then being traded for very little (see kersten etc). Would be a strange pick for me.

It's an interesting question as to what our midfield needs to improve? Clearly we need to see improvement from everyone bar our skipper and Danger. But is the mix right anyway? I'm not so sure. Maybe it's just that we don't have the talent after Joel and Paddy that we think we might? I'd be happy to take SPP to run alongside Cockatto and Danger - how dynamic would that little trio potentially be?!!

Does anyone else like the look of Dylan Clarke for our pick 24?

Watched a few of his highlights and the opinion descriptions of him. His contested ball use and work in congestion is freakishly good!! Looks good in a marking contest for a midfielder too. Has a San Mitchell feel about his work and style.

Anyone else keen?
Big fan, know him well from ER, his brother is at NM , both can play- he's the better player, real hard worker, ready to go. Agree about the Mitchell. He is more than just an inside mid

Getting SPP would be unreal - but even after all the chat about him sliding, I just cant imagine it will happen. He's too good. I also wouldn't mind us putting a bid on Macreadie at p24.

There are about a dozen or more players I'd be happy to take at 24 though.

Not sure about a dozen but I'd be happy with Ridley, SPP, B.Cox, Witherden and Macreadie. Assuming Florent and a number of others won't be available to us. I've cooled on any of the KPF's.

Don't mind him for a second rounder. Not first.

Thats where it gets difficult... post draft where you were taken ... at 24 or 38 means far less. As much as certain players are thought of worth this or that.. the definitive first value of a player is set at the draft. For good or bad a player like Bowe may have been a P1 but no will be later. Id say in real terms , there is a marginal difference between 25 and 40 this year. What was Longeran worth originally?

I was lucky enough to have a chat with him on a flight back to Perth earlier in the year. Very polite young man, modest and understated but spoke very well - Wells would rate him on character IMO
Knock is on his kicking but he's a contested beast who finds it readily. Whilst we could do with more outside speed a clearance player like SPP would enable Danger to play outside a little more which has clear benefits ( provided we don't lost too much inside)

As good as Danger is on the inside I want him to be the first or second handball more often - reason is he's unstoppable when he takes it at speed and his DE will improve dramatically if he has time to pause before delivery. One of the reasons his DE is shit sometimes is that he's just wrestled 5 blokes to get free and he's under the hammer when he kicks it.
If SPP can perform inside and allow Danger to play more time as an outside mid and forward we'll be a much better side IMHO

Let's be honest, if Caddy was playing mainly forward last year then it would be 3-4yrs before SPP would be used as a starting inside mid.

Get SPP at 24 then hope that either Cumming, B.Cox, Kerr or C.Cox slides to 38. Then take Zac Fisher
at 42. Also get Stewart and Atkins and for me that is a perfect draft

SPP is a better player though. But i share your concern to some degree.

The issue with SPP is he trained with the eagles this year and supports them-if he isnt getting regular games here he will go back there as soon as his first contract is up. So unless i felt he would go into our best 22 straight away i wouldn't draft him.

Premature call, Caddy in his draft year was one of the best in the business from memory. We know half the blokes in the top 30 will turn out to play under 50 games for their clubs.

better player... that has to be questionable. SPP has played well and looks a good type but he looks like he will be drafted between 15-30.

On what i have seen he has a bit more power than caddy and better burst speed and endurance, i rate josh though as you know.

It seems 24 will be an accommodation of sorts ... most players mentioned having something that appeals but have flaws that can be noted as well.

Could be right but I think he's a plug and play - say plays 8 or so first up and then tones the body over a couple of preseasons and builds from there
I have Cocky as the forward/ mid replacement , SPP as stated could give the inside mids a chop out
Interesting to see who we end up with?

PnP.. Obviously that sounds good but I wonder if that will be seen as KPI for Wells , they have gone out and got 2e for that. Menegola last year was basically that.. and I'm sure we can find a PnP like Ruggles . We all think we know Wells , i tend to think he likes ute types that will be able to play in a lot of roles..even if that means they are a little under ready..he will back himself to pick the upside. Im think someone like Cummings will appeal due to his very high end kicking , even if he is not ready for 2017
