Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

How long has 26 been after 32?:o

oops...good thinking, 99!
Must've had a harder Saturday night than I remembered.:p
Was thinking of Cornelius ( I think).

Post-modern's pretty good though...isn't it?

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

this guy looks a beauty.good pace, excellent mark , decent kick and decent by hand. he could well become a lead up centre half forward in the future. he reminds me a lot of robert murphy. i think this guy will surprise a few next year i rekan he could play 10+ games.start him on the forward flank and give him a run on the wing. people are saying he can used down back but he just looks to valuable up the ground with his run and marking ability to be left down there.could be one of the steals of the draft at 26:thumbsu:

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

His a great talent and had a great attitude and if anyone saw the final against dandenong he played the game of his career! Very glad he got drafted, would have loved him at the pies!

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Hes a gun .. all there is to it

Have known him for many years hes from Altona where im from and ive seen him dominate games of WRFL and TAC Cup and by WRFL i mean division 1 senior football at the age of 16! I remember playing school footy against him and i think he kicked something like 15 goals, naturally he was always a forward.

Good pick up for the Tigers

Thank you both for the information :)

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Vickery could. Not sure about Post. Not a stick by any means but I can't see him getting in front of Hughes, McGuane, Riewoldt, Thursfield in the space of a pre-season.
no one will get in before Thursfield as he is our best FB but he would get in before Morton and White i think, This is great seeing that all the players have put in so much work to get a start now since we have more depth now:thumbsu:.

i thought the final against dandenong was the one were sidebottom kicked 10 or is this another game?

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Thats strange, because apparently you barrack for Adelaide.

haha definately not! Something must have happened when i had to reset my account, thanks for the heads up I did not even notice! anyhow you guys are lucky to have such a great player, he will do well with you guys

The one i'm talking about is the Jets V Dandenong Elimination final, it shown in the majority of his highlights. The jets were down by 40 leading into the fourth quarter and only lost by 3pts.

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

He really backs himself.

I've looked at the video over and over. And the more i watch it. The better i feel.

He has a really strong pair of hands. The mark he takes at the end of that video is awesome.

Good skills and great pace.

I think we have a winner here at Pick 26

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

just finished watching his video on youtube - and gotta say his pace and run looks very exciting.

I know we need him to be a forward - but he down back, along with rance, thrusty, moore, mcmahon and king/raines.JON - we would have the ultimate tall, fast running backline - which still has the ability to play defensive.

don't know if it would be a waste to play him in the forward line - looks alot like Rance - in that if he has a paddock in front of him, he will cover it in the blink of an eye.

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Given his size, what are the things that will mean he will take a year or two to come good?

I've played with this guy for a numbber of years the only thing he neeeds is to hit the gym flat out if he puts on 5 kilos over summer i can promise u guys that he will play 10-15 games includin NAB

cheers mate - he definitely looks to be a CHB to me, and despite us needing a key possie forward - the thought of he, rance, thurstfield and Moore playing down back for the next 10 years makes me really excited.

its time for schulz, polak, hughes, Putt, Patto & riewoldt to be the forwards we recruited them to be - the backline is close to A1 now ( as long as we can find a reliable small defender!). Feel a bit sorry for McGuane though - he could very well see himself on the outer, and i think he hasn't really done anything wrong - we probably should have shopped him to the hawks:o

I really became a fan this year - he is one tough, mean bastard. He'll be a regular for the next two years while Rance and Post develop, and should then fetch us a pretty good pick from GC if we decide to go that way. You'd think that after being pick 36, spending six years in the system and playing 70-odd games, he'd fetch one of their plethora of top-15 picks. We should think ahead and boost his B&F votes too.

P.S. How useless is the RFC website? Can't even find/take/upload a photo of Post.

i'm a big fan of McGuane's and would be happy for him to stay - i just find it a little difficult to see how he will fit into the side once Post and Rance develop. Love his aggression - he is the only tall in the back half which has the aggression and mongrel - he is the first bloke to run over if a teammate is hurt or in a tussle - a team player - but between thrustfield, rance, moore - and the footage of Post i have seen - we could very well have 4 of the best 15 young tall defenders in the league - hopefully Post is the Key position forward we thrive for - and a position can open up for Luke.

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Agreed tobes, although I also agree with his mate that Post looks a natural CHB.
Who woulda thunk that Tiger fans would be talking about having an excess of quality tall defenders? One possibility no one has yet mentioned is that rather than try to find or manufacture a small defender, put Thursty on the dangerous smaller forwards. He plays on Williams when we play Hawthorn. Despite what many posters here are saying, he is no longer our full-back, and with his size and speed, should be able to monster small/medium forwards.
B - Thursfield Rance McGuane
HB - Moore Post Newman
could potentially be a backline to strike fear into the hearts of forwards, or at least make life very difficult for them.

if i recall correctly - he was once played on Milne, and he shut him out of the match for all but the 4th quarter- where (when the game was dead and buried) Milne got away from him and kicked 3 or 4. I think the likes of Williams he could cover - but its more the Eddie Betts, Milne, Rioli types which worry me.

Hopefully the forgotten child, Raines, can come back and be that player again - that would be perfect - at his best raines was a brilliant defender, and perfect for our hard running out of defence backline.

Re: Pick 26 - Jaydyn Post

Post has all the attributes of a gun CHB. He is also our tallest one standing at close to 195cm. But, the coaching staff are a massive wrap for McGuane and can't see him getting pushed out or leaving.

Plan A would be to eventually fit all of Post, Thursfield, Rance, McGuane and Moore in the same side. Post looks the most likely to be able to fill a key forward role and I think that's where he'll start. I think by the end of next year our backline would look something similar to this...

FB: Newman Thursfield McGuane
HB: Tambling Rance Moore

Remember, Moore stands at 188cm, and will eventually play on the smaller forwards eg: Johnson's, Medhurst all those types.

Thursfield is very agile as well and will play on the quicker forwards.

Rance will take big boy's one day and McGuane the resting ruckman.

Now this is where I may get shot down for this but I'll say it anyway. Say, in 2 years, Post forces his way into the backline and looks like he'll make it....I'd say we could do without one of our 6 current KPB.

I'm not saying it will happen, but if they all were to make the grade, which I can see happening, then it would be a waste of space to have all of them. Key position backmen would be just as valuable as any position on the ground, and we have 6 of them now!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the club shop around say a Rance or Schulz in a couple of years, and take home a nice first round draft pick.

Now that's thinking too far ahead, but it's nice to think we might be in this position one day, when other clubs will come asking for our players. The club is building a very nice list, and we are building exciting depth for the future.

It's a nice time to be a Tigers supporter.
