Pick 27

I don't mind reading Paige's thoughts each year. I get that she is often wide of the mark but good on her for having a go. I don't know if she has claimed the title 'expert'. If so, she might want to ratchet down the self-promotion a notch to avoid further ridicule.

Basically I really enjoy the efforts of everyone/anyone who's prepared to analyse and make predictions every post-season as it gives us something interesting to read at this time of year, which is critically important if you're not into horse racing or A-League.

I am very grateful to people like Knightmare, Snoop and Chris 25 who provide a real depth of understanding on the incoming talent to those of us who know little to nothing about them.

Well said. I also appreciate people's efforts.
It's too easy to simply criticise without expressing the reasons why.
She's having a crack...that's good enough for me.

This is from an article in the Herald Sun today "AFL Draft 2015: Who your club should take with its first pick"
The truth is I have no idea who we should pick up with 27 I just thought I would add it to the thread.

COLLINGWOOD

Pick: 27

Ideal: Brayden Fiorini

Otherwise: Aidyn Johnson, Luke Partington

The Pies need classy ball-users with the ability to push forward.

Last season, Collingwood endured the third-worst kicking efficiency in the competition at just 64.1 per cent. Although they brought in midfielders at the trade table, they might hope for one more.

Brayden Fiorini could be their man.

A versatile midfielder with good game smarts, Fiorini will fall within Collingwood’s draft range and would be a handy recruit.

Averaging 32 disposals in the TAC Cup this year, Fiorini chipped in with multiple goals in three of his last four matches with the Northern Knights.

She Works with TAC CUP Radio so she seen more then just about everyone on here
Game day viewing is a very miniature part that will decide is a player will make it or not, need to base things on a lot more than that and personal relationships

Don't look at vision before the draft as I don't want to get my hopes up, but Johnson 'sounds' like a beauty.

I think it has to be a balance. Most other AFL teams seem to have more Aboriginal players than us and I think it is definitely an area we should be actively addressing.
Some club has to have the least. Silly to recruit one just bc we don't have many, and I'm sure they would like to be recruited on their talent, not to create a balance.

Agreed, but they all are
She is right up there with the worst of them but she is not alone
They all live in fantasy world, where that think they are Hine. Nothing wrong with that of course, fantasy worlds can be a good distraction from their everyday mundane lives.
The problem IMV, arises when they start to believe they have credibility in the real world and start to tag themselves with "expert"
Nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy. Don't you ever get bored living 100% of your life in the real world? Haven't you ever dropped LSD, smoked a joint or taken one Xanax too many?

I have never noticed you participating in any of the phantom drafts. Speculation can be fun sometimes. Maybe it lacks the kind of objectivity so integral to your world view, but it can be diverting and even educational given the research required. Why not give it a go?

All the people complaining about height will have a heart attack if Callum Brown ends up any good

IF he does well next year he still be a 2nd Round Pick at Best

You'll be glad to hear in the Bigfooty Official Phantom Draft that I selected Kieran Lovell (174cm mid) for Collingwood.

As for my general targets with pick 27. Mitch Hibberd is my best case scenario as a wing/hb with his weapons. Luke Partington and Ryan Clarke as quick, productive mids also greatly appeal to me if there. Kieran Collins as a key defender would be an excellent selection if he slides. Harry Himmelberg as a key forward is worth bidding on with our pick 27.

After these guy, failing none of them sliding. A Jade Gresham or Kieran Lovell as small mids probably are those best leftovers I'm seeing as those next few with the highest probability of an AFL career.

But maybe Collingwood have their guy who they have a higher level of optimism regarding compared to a Gresham or Lovell as I was forced to select in the Bigfooty Official Phantom Draft given the lack of availability of anyone else worthwhile, or at least worthwhile of those expected not to be available at the clubs later selections.
I'm all for a midget if he has some elite traits.

Lovell accumulates arguably better than anyone in this draft class and in game his pace, agility and endurance all really stand out with the way he uses that running and movement in game. So that's the foundation he builds his game around.

But with his Lack of Height. I don't see as high as a Upside as if he was at least 180cm

I agree with you on Lovell's upside with a relative lack of height through the midfield set to play against him given the height and size of modern midfielders. As a shorter guy, he has a really advanced game and probably doesn't have as great scope to improve as a result. And that's why we're talking about him at pick 27 and not pick 7.

Worth watching again!

Love that goal from the Anvil but not really on topic gents.

In saying that it's a nice segue as Brown is now the coach of Gippsland Power and hence the coach of Ben McKay who I want at 27! :D
