Pick 27

I must admit that even though we had a ripper of a trade period I was slightly disappointed when our first pick went out to 34.

So I loved that we did the late pick swap to get back inside the top 30. Our 2nd blows right out but that's ok.

When Hine was on trade radio (pre the Aish trade) he talked up pick 26 still bring a really good pick because once the academy players go out the pick comes in about 5 places. He said he rated pick 26 about pick 21.

On that logic pick 27 gives you access to the 22nd best non academy selection. I like it!

Yeah thanks to his testing (and his name), Rioli will go well before 27 unfortunately. Kerbatieh is our next bet for a small forward, but I'd hope we can land someone with some pace really.

Will unfortunately be pushed a few selections later talent wise by academy selections, so hopefully something still there. Rioli around the mark but not surprised if he goes a bit earlier so not getting hopes up.

Still, nothing we can do about the academy players. They won't be available to anyone else either. Lets hope we find another Beams with that pick.

Any chance Burton or Ah Chee sneak through to 27??

We need a forward with this selection. Midfield is sorted and backline ok. Likely slider at this pick though will probably be a 175-182 midfield accumulator, which is what we don't need. Hope we get lucky.

If we get Ryan Burton at Pick 27 I will lose it lol

best player available is what hine does
Definitely not. That was the mistake we made with Kennedy. Our needs are a tall forward we can develop into a second ruck. Our other need is a small crumbing forward. Those are the players we should be targeting.

Understand people are keen on a small forward but I think our greater need is outside pace. We lost both Seedsman and Freeman and I think that speed needs to be replaced. Treloar goes okay but think we need more.

I would be happy with either: quick outside mid, KPF prospect, or dynamic small forward. What I don't want is another even paced/inside mid. We have enough of them for now.

Think at that depth we won't be able to pick who it is, but confident we will find someone who can be decent for us. You lool at what we've drafted with picks 30 and beyond in recent years and how they've gone, we'll get something we can work with.

there always hit and misses in the draft and what we think does not affect what hine does, and he has said multiple times, he takes the best there at that pick
I hope lm wrong this time, as for me a tall forward or out side pace is needed

I understand the Rioli hype because of his name but his production is pretty poor and recruiters don't base their recruiting on what someone does at the draft camp. In saying that someone will probably pull the trigger late first round.

I can see someone like Ah Chee slipping to our pick. He is someone who had quite a poor championship I thought. I don't think he possesses the ability to play midfield and he didn't look comfortable on the HBF. Would be a nice get at our pick to develop him as a small forward, has got that X factor but will go missing at times.

I'm hoping Ryan Clarke slips through to our pick. Outside player with nice skills and good endurance.

Anyone with a bit of magic and x factor. In this day and age its so much easier to just nab a player in trade when the time comes for a kpf or kpb. The draft in my opinion has become just a tad obselete. So let's just go for some magic and see what comes of it re.

We recruited a tall forward who can play second ruck last year. His name is Darcy Moore.

Our need is outside pace or a crumbing forward
I think you still take best available if you only have one pick and it's 27. Having said that, Hine trading back into the top 30 suggests he thinks there's a tier that ends shortly afterward, so he might have a few he likes around that pick. Position should just be a tiebreaker this time.

Ryan Clarke the obvious must, but chances are he's gone late first round. Love to pick up Jordan Gallucci but he might slide a bit but not certain he'd be there for the next pick. Perhaps if someone like a Lovell slides might be alright. Or Liam Jeffs who drops because of carrying an injury this year.

Ben McKay i reckon would be a great fit, work with him to develop him into a sold KPD. Danny Riolis alright as we mentioned before, but nts if we need a small forward. Otherwise we go for a slider, someone like Hibberd or Harry McKay who have a bit to add to our squad. Jordan Dawson and Liam Jeffs would be a stretch but not to be discounted
