Pick 27

It's pretty astounding that a kid who's Dad and Grandfather played for the Pies could support an opposition team. Bad father Mark. Bad father.

No child today should have to grow up following Richmond let alone someone with such a fine pedigree. It suggests some kind of breakdown within the family structure. I'd be contacting Social Services.

I thought the Pies had some kind of money ball formula based on things like draft combine, TAC Cup performance and exposed form at senior level. Most of the guys we pick up early seem to be strong in those fields. I can't get a read anywhere on his combine results but Tom Phillips seems to tick the other two boxes as someone we'd be looking at closely. He also has great versatility which seems to be a real bonus.

Admittedly it was a stronger draft last year but we landed Maynard at 30 after he was touted as a possible late first rounder in some experts mocks.

I'm confident we will still land a pretty good slider at our first pick.

Then some Hine specials late :D

No child left behind - we can save him!

Stephen Tahana seems to be drifting a bit on phantoms and is now listed on the AFL "Draft Machine" as a smokey.

I was under the impression he'd be one of the kids available and likely to be selected around our pick?

Though I don't know much and haven't seen him play live.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Awkward. I think you're doing OK.:p

Shut down small/medium defender who was pretty good in his underage year, but hasn't come on since. That's the only role he plays. Didn't progress into the midfield, but if he ever does might be a handy defensive Mid.

Just on Phillips, he played a game against us in the VFL this year for Port Melbourne as 23rd man. Played pretty well, picked up 20 disposals, 6 marks, 6 tackles and kicked a goal, which was enough to see him get into their bests. If anyone wants to take a look, he's wearing #67...

I have been keeping an eye on Phillips I hope we take him. Something about the way he moves and he has a nice left foot. I feel his production is a lot like Tom Langdon.

Callum Moore is an athletic forward. Has some tricks but have not been impressed by his lack of production for an overager. I'm also struggling to see what role he can play at AFL level to an adequate standard as a roughly 193cm light bodied forward. As a key forward I'd be looking substantially more than the 13 goals from 9 games he gave us through the TAC Cup as a mostly forward who also pushed through the ruck. And substantially more than a lousy 6 marks as his highest tally from any of those 9 games (achieved twice).
Bringing back an old name from last season. But Reece McKenzie for some perspective had 35 goals from the 10 games. And three games with 12 or more marks. And McKenzie unlike Moore wasn't an overager, and also had his games mostly as a key forward, pushing into the ruck at times.
So while C.Moore has been linked to Collingwood. I'm not excited by that. Good an all an aerial mark as he is.

In terms of draft range. Moore most likely splits between our first and second picks as someone who will be considered from around pick 30 onward. It's not out of the question that he may be there at our second selection though.

Sorry for cutting half your post, but McKay isn't as relevant here.

Moore to Sydney if he gets to their first available pick after Mills. They were the club that got him back to the Cannons for his overage year.

Also thoughts on Tom Phillips? He's received a lot of interest after the GF, but ours has been by far the most significant!

Interesting to see how they rate him and if there's no sliders to our pick will they pull the trigger on him at 27?

Would take a risk on Sam Skinner. Young key position players take time to mature physically and him doing his knee would be a blessing as he is building his body up in the gym recently.
