Pick 27

Pick 27+

- Rioli (or similar as super quick goal sneak)
- Skinner + Firms + Moore (developing talls to predominantly play back)

PS - I have no real knowledge of this draft class. Just picking the types I reckon we need
better suggestions based on these positions appreciated

Not at 27

Having Treloar and Aish already signed is better than we could hope for in any draft, makes the draft a little less intriguing for mine. Still keen to see who we pick up but a bit of pot luck at 27, leaving it up to Hine this year?.

He'll be pleased. I've heard that he has become very frustrated that you get to make all the decisions. BTW - Good work with De Goey

Just about to release my Phantom Draft for this year and was interesting looking at who we should pick with 27.

If you want to go small in the draft with pick 27 then I suspect options are;

1. Rioli - Stand out and has real x factor but can go missing big time in games and that consistency will be what they are debating in the 'war room' around him. His best is v v good but it can turn on a dime with him.

2. Hardwick - Arguably better performed than Rioli in every facet bar his testing which was fine but not elite. This kid has real game sense. He has been likened to Medhurst by some and thats probably fair but he is a better crumbed than Medhurst was. He also has scope to go into the middle. In the war room they will be worried about his ceiling. Ie how much better can he get.

3. Kerbatieh - Was probably my pick but his testing was awful and every chance he will be there at our 2nd pick.

4. Crocker - More in the DeGoey mould but more HF than mid. Has played there and been fine but a smarter HF who can lead up and crumb. More latter than former. Smart player and big game player. Think more SJ. Knock on him is exactly what will he become.

5. Lovell - Has played a lot there in Tassie.

6. Johnson - Would be an option but isn't a classic crumbing type. Quick and classy but he tries to get and create space up the ground more than run under a big forwards marking contest. Lot of class though and I'd pick him.

if you went for something different at the first pick some smaller forwards later to look at;

Shane McAdam - getting a lot of talk and his best good but inconsistent.

Yestin Eades - Probably the one I would select. Elite speed and explosive. Kicking at times an issue but his best is v good.

Andrew Galluci - Don't be surprised if we select him at some stage. Is the type I can see Hine going for.

Murray Newman - I dont think we will as they will be worried about him but I think he is arguably the best player delisted and he happens to have experience in the role we want.

Davin Ferriera - 19yo and a possibility for sure. Done v well in the SANFL at senior level and has the tools for the job. Think a bit more Charlie Cameron. He would be an interesting one to look at.

For the remaining selection I would assume that Skinner is gone. I have him falling a lot earlier and he should. He showed enough for recruiters to know what he can do. I suspect Moore will be gone as well as he is getting a bit of talk at the moment and his foot skills have improved a lot. Firns would be more a late pick / rookie. Doesnt have an offensive element to his game. Think more Nath Brown sort. I'd be taking someone who is more aggressive out of the back half. Patrick Levicki would be the one I'd aim up at.

Newman is very Talented but I don't think he has the Want for it Though

What are the chances Johnson and Hardwick are available at our 2md and 3rd picks

I would be very surprised. Johnson will certainly be gone. Hardwick could be a slight chance. Again the thing with him is his ceiling and what clubs think he could become. Ive seen a few of his games where he has gone through the middle and really turned games. For mine he has more to give and I'd pick. Candidly I would look at him seriously for #27 but I think the club want more speed from what I have been told.

Thanks Snoop - fantastic response / write ups. Really enjoyed the read.

What the hell has Ben McKay done to throw him in to first round contention? At the end of the season people were saying he might be a bolter going in to the top 30 and now Emma Quayle has him as top 20. That's a hell of a jump for a kid on pretty much pure potential...

All he's done is be tall.

Don't get me wrong, I like the kid, and reckon he would be a solid project player in the second round, but talk of him going top 20 is just bizarre to me...
Yeah I'm with you. Hope he becomes a good player but I would be pretty annoyed if we had a mid first round pick and selected him.

For mine he has been there for a while. Kid has a huge ceiling. He reads the play well, moves well and gets his hands to the ball. He's a good mark and plays the role not dissimilarly to a Reid in that he brings others into it and he moves the ball on quickly. People liken him to Carlisle but I see fair a bit of him and he reminds me of Reid. Reid was a huge bolter in run up to his draft. Kid has a huge ceiling. Really huge. Freo would be v keen for him.

A 200cm Promising KPF/Ruck. No Wonder he is Rising Up the Draft Boards

That's his brother. Ben seems to be regarded more as a KPD, although he has shown he can play forward too.

They are Very Simmlar and That might be why Ben is seen in that way. Big Reason also Why I see him gone by pick 27.

Best Chance of us getting a Tall might be Sam Skinner who has been Injured nearly all year

Don't mind the look of this kid, takes a good grab, and can play at both ends
